Last year I won the overall at my first show and was planning on doing the London level 2 this year and hopefully the provincials next summer. Now with all that is going on with CBBF and OPA I really have no clue what to do. OPA/Jamor is still going to run the Nov London show but if you can't qualify for Provincials should I do it? CBBF said they are doing a show on Oct 17 to qualify but there is nothing on their website as of yet. I'm getting ready to start dieting here and I'm more confused than ever. Any ideas??

I'm curious to what people suggest as well. I WILL be doing Ottawa regardless of CBBF sanctioned or not but would really like to see one later on in Nov that is CBBF sanctioned.

If not no biggie as I am sure they will have some early next year. I plan on keeping myself within 20-25lbs of show condition from here on out so dieting down will be much easier and faster next season.

We're all still waiting for www.cbbf-on.com to be up and running...I know someone mentioned it might be up Monday, but looks like there has been some delays. Can't wait to see since I am looking forward to knowing whether or not to continue dieting!

Also, you could continue the OPA route. Even though they haven't officially said anything about the way they will continue to run there shows, it seems to me they are very keen on keeping it as is. You could still go through level 1, 2, and then 3 which would simply be a "provincial OPA" show. That is if you don't have plans of eventually going to nationals, but since you already won an overall - I would think nationals would definitely be on your mind.

No nationals in mind at all - at 39 years old it's a little late in the game for that. Wish I had started earlier. I just wanted to make provincials and do well and I'll be happy.

I definately don't want to go through the hell of dieting for nothing. Maybe I will go the OPA route and give myself a little more time to diet instead of rushing it.

Anybody else doing the London show??

I *had* planned on it if I could have done L2 and it meant something now I dunno...

I usually like dieting for more than 1 show at a time (two birds with 1 stone mentality). Originally my plan was the natural qualifer in september, and then the ottawa show a few weeks after.

Now the natural qualifier is a no go (OPA vs. cbbf) so the new plan is up in the air until I hear further. My advice would be to wait it out before making official plans. Once CBBF ontario releases some show dates it might make your decision easier.

On the other hand, it will probably be a long time before OPA really knows what its future holds and if they will continue to run a provincial-type show, or if they will restructure their own "levels" seeing as how they aren't affiliated with the level 4.

I thought the same thing last year - at 38 to compete for the first time. I had no idea what to expect as I had never even been to a show prior to that . When I get there there's 50 plus competors and 15 alone in my weight class (light heavy). I actaully remember saying to my wife when we got there that maybe I should leave as I saw all the huge guys come walking in. Anyway - won the class and the over-all. It was an awesome experience. Actually the guy who got 2nd in my weight class was 41 years old. The old timers were ruling that might.

Used a trainer for sure - best money I ever spent. Any newer competitor thinking they can do it by themselves is wrong. I remember thinking I was ready 3 weeks before the show and my trainer telling me I wasn't even close. You'll see guys spend hundreds even thousands on protein, food and 'other' yet when it comes to a trainer they think it's expensive.

Sorry - went off on a bit of a bar there. Yes - I used a trainer.
