Is this shit STILL going on? Christ... I'm gonna be there Monday for 2 weeks.. I don't wanna smell that shit. What the hell is going on already.. they should have ordered them back to work by now.

Am I the only one who feels garbage pick up should be an 'essential service'???

Well I hope it gets resolved.Took my kids to highpark and highpark went to hell. Zoo closed. Playgrounds muddy as hell. Interesting enough the garbages were all cleaned and fresh looking. Who's doing the trash in teh mean time? Landscaping isn't being done.

Word is no one is caving and it should last through Sept.

Are they all asking for the same pay raise, 18 sick days, etc?

I think it's absurd city council got raises, they should reverse that. Now is NOT the time to be giving raises to anyone. The city's in trouble, and they give themselves more money??

Now everyone else wants a piece. It's ridiculous.

18 sick days?? Come on, that's beyond unreasonable.

Its not about the money Bro If you give more they never stop. I colleague of mine did a day for 550.00 $ as a favor now he has a tough time getting $$ paid and his peers have a bit of a hate on for him

I love the way they strike in Europe coppers hospitals fire they walk no arrests / fires just burn and operations are on hold

Thats why i never shop at wall mart type stores or get anything on line it put people out of work

there lots of money the Rich just hoard it no one need a billion $$ a 1000 mil come on

Ya Kloan...it should be so easy.. Tell our city how it's should be so easy.

Toronto is flat out bankrupt. They can't managethe services they have and really can't do much to increase revenues since taxes are so high that biz and people are heading North. You'll see teh return of a slasher and cutter that would ave made Mike Harris look like the Tooth Fairy soon.

If PC win next election (and they should teh waythings are heading South) garbagemen would pray for 1 sick day let along 18. Thinsga re going to get rough for Toronto. Trust me If comrade Miller had teh money to give he would. He loves unions and they helped him win. The truth is his stupidity and MCSquinties insistence on giving Toronto idiots te ability to raise taxes is killing Ontario and Toronto is feeling it the hardest.

Yeah, the cost of living is high in Toronto, there's no doubt about that. But I think all the city counselors make enough right now, they should not have been given raises, or at least smaller raises.

Here in California, they're cutting spending everywhere. People are getting paycuts, the state is nearly bankrupt. It's happening all over, but for some reason the douchetards in Toronto just don't seem to think they're a part of the problem. Asking for money when the city is already struggling is just poor judgement.

I can't wait for Miller to be gone. Taxes are out of control, spending is going in all the wrong places, and the strike shows just how much a mess things are in and how far up the asses people have their heads.

It's really a shame. It's summer for kids, and they have no pools to swim in, parks are going to shambles, etc...

700K to 1.8 million? Are you saying that's teh avg.home price in DT Toronto or are you making another statement?

cause if that's your avergage then you are probably talking about Mount Sinai Surgery type salaries.

For 500K you still get a decent home in TO. Garbage ment don't and shouldn't be able to afford a 1.8 mil home.

Toronto just started with it's problems. It's going to get a lot of worse before it gets better.People are still in dream land over here. If they knew how broke the city was they would be scared.

Yeah man, I think you're right about that. It's been worse off down here for a while, but it's just starting to hit up there.. people haven't clued in yet. Problem is a lot of people have self-righteous attitudes in Toronto, so I wonder what it's going to take for it to sink in there isn't enough money for them to grub.

It will take a real estate crash before these peole get it.I see people where the wife lost her job, hubby is on reduced hours but they just 'had' to upgrade to the 600k house because teh mortgage rates are 'oh so low'. LOL.

Yoiu wouldn't believe how many peole say "Yeah but Obama said it's over". It's as if he's our President.People don't get it until they lose it.

That I agree with 1000 % my neighbor is 110% financed to the max leased cars x2 house line of credit they make about 120k between the two of them
mortgage is amortized over 40 years 5% down on a 800k home ??

I have 212.54 $ total debt + my GST for the quarter ?? I was hoping interest rates would go up over 12% so i could upgrade cheap but i will have to wait i guess

So you have skills that any electrician can do? If so then you are either flat out lying about your pay or you are so specialized that you are 1 in few electricians that specializes in your field. Therefore you are an electrician but mostly you are a "specialist". Electricians get paid well anyways. It's a skilled trade and cosiderig most kids these days can't even pug in a vacum they a good electrician is becoming rare. I can't pump out electricians as fast as I can garbage men.

If your skills weren't as specialized as you say why would anyone fly you in first class?

Garbage men aren't specialist. Do they deserve a good pay? Sure. Do they deserve a home in Rosedale?

Nope. Something doesn't add up aboutthes tuff you say anyways so eith you are a "plumber" like John Gotti was or you have a skill that only a few people add. And if you are comparing your skill set to a garbage man..... it makes no sense. You are either highly specialized or not.

PS. Specialist at Mount Sinai make close to a million a year. If your making that just on contracts than teach us some marketing skills. If you are union then local 79 should be tarred and feathered.

about 40% of that see doctors make way to much / they are supposed to do it for love and healing

I'M specialized and in a very small niche I'm union I get a wage around 65USD then I cut a deal over and above with clients 1000-1500 USD day on average

Realize the strike is about miller making $ wage saving I just get upset when people cant live in a big city

As far as I go lots of my clients hate me and some of my peers because of the cost and its all about the $ do as little as possible for as much $ as possible

I usually work with US based clients they get it
