OPA is still going however they have lost their CBBF affiliation. You may still compete in the OPA shows but if your plan is to get an IFBB Pro card then you will have to move up through the CBBF Ontario stream.

Or you could compete in FAME and get a nice pair of tight blue shorts.

I cant believe why they would do that. That really sucks man. I wonder why the CBBF chose not to support them as the mandate or what not! So now when you compete in a OPA event it will give you no chance to advance to provincial or national level IFBB?

If you read the cbbf website, you can find out all about why this happened.

There is another thread on here about this as well. As of now, OPA doesn't qualify you for nationals in the tested or non-tested stream. Since OPA still exists, you can still do "provincials" it just will be OPA provincials - which isn't cbbf affiliated. I am curious to see what ends up happening with all of this. It seems OPA is still working hard at trying to reverse this whole decision. But I can't see why CBBF would change their mind.
I am also in the same boat as varking in terms of fall shows - but you can still compete in OPA. The problem is, the popularity my take a huge dive because most of us don't really care what the title of the organization is, we just want to compete where we can qualify for nationals...Whether or not they will still have woodstock show is up in the air is my guess. Depends on how much they can get support of the promoters. OPA seems to have some support and will continue running the orginization - but my guess is as good as yours as to how long that will realistically last once most people switch to cbbf ontario

According to CBBF-ON Division if you competed in OPA shows 2009 they will honour the qualification. ie if you made top three in the OPA provincials then you do qualify for the 2009 and/or 2010 nationals. Even though in Gary Bartlett's letter it states you would have to requalify in 2010 by doing a CBBF-ON show(posted on their website)...you dont...this is from the CBBF-ON executives.

I forget the rules, but top 3 at provincials are qualified for 2 years?
I thought it was they could compete in 1 of the 2 shows. The winner being qualified for both. So Garry's article is technically correct if you've used up your qualifications. But then again, if you place top 3 at nationals your still qualified.

The rules state, if you qualify top three in the OPA provincial show (Ontarios) you are qualified for the Nationals the current year and/or the following year. Which means if you compete at the Nationals in 2009 and do not place top 5 you then must requalify at the Ontarios again. The other option is to wait until 2010 to compete at the Nationals. Either way by placing in the top 5 at the Nationals you do not have to requalify...if you dont place top 5 then you do.
With the new CBBF-ON division this may change.

I would wait for the new CBBF Ontario site to launch. Look for it early next week. This will help clear up any confusion.

I hope your right but I have a feeling it won't clear up alot of questions. I was told by cbbf ontario that the september 19th natural show will not qualify you for the national show. However on the jamor website, they state that cbbf ontario has confirmed that this show will still be the qualifier. Basically two conflicting responses. To me it seems OPA will not go down without a fight - so it could be a while before we have official answers. I guess the person to ask would be the promoters of the national show.
Its unfortunate for some of us - the national qualifier show is just 9 weeks away! Anyone who planned on doing it likely have their diet underway. The show will go on, but I am sure many of those wanting to compete there would change their mind on which show to compete in if say cbbf ontario had an official qualifier 2 months after!

Steve Dupuis,
I am right. Wait just a bit longer. As for the Natural Ontarios - the one held by Jamor is NOT CBBF sanctioned. I can't figure out why people get confused...plain and simple. If a show is not CBBF sanctioned (any of the OPA shows) then you cannot advance onto the Natural Canadians (World Qualifier) or to the Canadian Nationals (then onto IFBB). I have confirmed this fact this morning. As for being unfortunate, don't worry the CBBF Ontario will take care of their athletes.

Hi Sean,
I wasn't confused originally, as I was also told that by CBBF ontario a few days ago, so I took it as fact. I just today started to question it based on this which was posted on Jamor:
"We will be running the Natural Ontario's again this year and as was stated by the CBBF Ontario Division (COD) they will honor our athletes that will qualify from that show, we will have a qualified team of athletes for next years Natural
Canada's."
I can't really speak for or against OPA since I moved from NS and haven't really been too involved in their shows, but I hope that OPA is not trying to trick athletes into coming to their shows like this! The whole www.cbbfontario.com website that they made up was pretty childish if you ask me....
Oh, btw, I am not Steve Dupuis

[QUOTE=steve_d;214932]Hi Sean,
I wasn't confused originally, as I was also told that by CBBF ontario a few days ago, so I took it as fact. I just today started to question it based on this which was posted on Jamor:
This is the problem... Jamor! They keep firing out e-mails every day stating they are alive and well. But this seems to be misleading a lot of people and appears that they are trying to rake in more money through memberships. Without having any sanction shows with the CBBF. So what happens to all the money from memberships they collected? Well I'm pretty sure they won't hand it over to the CBBF Ontario Division. Also, the bashing tone of the e-mails towards the CBBF just makes the OPA look like retards and leaves them with very little credit. Grasping at straws I think!!!!
I would say scrap plans for competing for any remaining shows this year in the OPA!
