Dirty Dan

Hey all!
I'm Dirty Dan and I'm here to get some help getting healthy. After moving back to Canada a year ago I've found it really hard to stay (get?) lean - not living in board shorts for 9 months of the year may have something to do with it (miserable climate here in Alberta).
Been hitting the gym pretty hard the last couple months with my best friend and motivator: my little brother. Trying to burn off the winter fat layer (hard to avoid putting on when you're on the rigs and have no access to cardio - you go running in wolf / cougar country!) I was working with a truly great and inspiring guy for a couple months this winter (hello Rob!) and he's shown me that it IS possible to maintain a moderately healthy routine during winter on the rigs. Currently, I can see the changes in my fat percentage but I know that my biggest issue is portion control.... I've made a few lifestyle changes which I'm really happy with: no more beer (really cut down on all alcohol honestly**), I've only had pizza twice in the last 2 months (it's my single biggest gluttony food), I've cut out ALL fried foods and I've been introduced to cottage cheese! I'm pumped and excited to keep going at it with the goal of getting my body fat down to non-embarrassing, T-shirt removal levels! :)
Well, here's to hoping I don't overstay my welcome and I look forward to visiting with you folks.
Laters,
Dirty.
( ** not only do I find I now have a pocketful of money I never had before, my entire lifestyle seems to a whole heck of alot healthier when I'm not spending 5 nights a week in a pub! )
