**Some info about me and why I'm doing this**
A healthy 23yo male on a accutane cycle. Rarely drinks, smoked some weed in highschool. Started using prohormones and steroids at age 21. I want to make something clear before I start. My acne was not caused by steroid use. I have struggled with acne for 7 years starting in highschool. Steroids may have cause some flare ups, no doubt, but the majority of it was from puberty. After using every OTC and even some prescription meds, nothing worked. I am making this log so people can make an educated decision on whether taking accutane is right for them, and to give them an idea of the side effects they may encounter along the way.

**Time to bust some myths**
So, now that I said all that, consider this an experiment to see just how toxic accutane really is. Let's put accutane and steroids into my body and see what happens. Obviously bloodwork is of the utmost importance and should redflag any problems that arise. To be honest, I'm not that concerned. All updates will be in the first post so it's easy to follow. Feel free to comment or follow it.

***WARNING GRAPHIC DESCRIPTIONS AND PROFANITY AHEAD***

SUPPORTING SUPPLEMENTS:
Clarus(isotretinoin) 70mg per day. Minimum five months.
Liv-52
Cycle support
Vitamin E
Apple Cider Vingear

Started around May 23.
-1st blood test came back good. Baseline values established.

-Within first 3 days lips became very chapped. Have to use chapstick every 1-2 hours.

-Some improvement after three weeks

-Skin feels tight and dry.

06/23/09

-Follow up app with dermo. Shoot the shit for a while. Keep going @ 70mg.

-Blood test 2 comes back OK.

06/30/09

-Unusually tired lately. Sleeping 10 hours and feel like I could sleep more. Did some research possible side effect of Accutane.

-Also sore bones and joints. I feel like I'm 90 years old. Makes it hard for work and working out. Also from the accutane.

-Dry/tight skin feeling went away.

-Had a small breakout. But still much more improvement.

07/05/09

-Sore bones/joint feeling went away. Just sick maybe?

-Did some tanning today and didn't burn. They claim your more photosensitive on accutane. Seems exaggerated.

-Back acne is improving nicely. Have some post acne inflammation.

-Did a shot of prop/npp.

07/17/09

-Not much to report this time. Still getting some small breakouts. Doc said it's normal.

-Had bloodwork again, everything was good.

-Lots of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmintation. Doc says it will fade with time.

-Threw some Cyp into my cycle. Dropped the NPP for now.

08/18/09

-Bloodwork OK

-Got perscribed clidasol cream to help with hyperpigmintation.

-NPP back into cycle.

08/26/09

-Face has cleared right up. Haven't had a pimple in months.

-Back has one or two small ones left. Same with chest. Still have at least another month of accutane.

-A really weird side effect. Kind of embarassing but I promised to report everything. Had some blood in my semen and piss and I have a really dry urethra. Yes the thing your pee comes out of. Nothing major just more sensitive and if it chaffs on the boxers it can sting sometimes. Went to the doc and did a bunch of test to make sure it wasn't prostate cancer, std's, uti's or something. Tests came back clean. Definitely a dried out urethra from the accutane. Dermo said it can happen. And no, sex is not a problem.

09/06/09

-Blood in semen and piss went away. Still got the dried out urethra.I expect that to stay until the end of the cycle.

-Dropped NPP from cycle completely a few days ago. It was causing flare ups. They went away as soon as I stopped it. Guess my body doesn't like deca.

-Oh man another embarASSing side effect. Have a dried out um *cough* butthole. Hell it dried out everything else why not my arse hole too. Makes it itchy lol. Have to use Preparation H to keep it moist. Ahh, the joys of accutane.

-Never take accutane on a empty stomach. It says right on the box not to but I did anyway cause I was in a rush to get somewhere. Now I have a upset stomach and feels like I have to shit every 10 minutes.

09/15/09

-Check up again. Bloodwork OK. We have decided to extended the cycle of accutane at least 2 more months. So that will be seven months in total.

10/13/09

-ACCUTANE CYCLE IS DONE!!!! I only have 10 pills left after that no more.

-Last bloodwork came back OK.

-Skin is clear of acne but there is some scarring/inflammation.

-Got perscribed Tazorac gel to help with scarring/post inflammation.

-I will continue the journal and let you know if the side effects I mentioned earlier go away after the accutane is done, and continue to report on the scarring and inflammation.

11/10/09

-this Tazorac gel is the ****ing bomb. Really making a impact on the pigmintation. No as much scarring as I thought.

11/26/09

-Still using the Tazorac gel. I can see the progess it's working good.

-All the side effects I stated earlier in the log have gone away.

-I still get a few pimples on my back, but they are nothing compared to before. They are very small now and hardly noticable. I'm in PCT now so it could be the hormone fluctuations aswell.

Great journal dude, I've been on the tane for about 5 days now and already have dry lips and less oily skin, and a certain embarrassing side effect happened tonight and your journal kept me from freaking out.

Thanks gic, I'll rep you again one I spread it around.

Hope all goes well for you. Make sure to stay on top of your bloodwork. If the journal helps one person, I'm happy:)

Hey gicantor, do you mind telling us where you have/had the most problems with acne? For me its the back and shoulders.

So your on 70mg ed? How long?

For a least 5 months. I am almost done my fifth month. Then I will go back to the dermo and we'll see if more in needed. I think it will be.

No, but I will be getting it perscribed to me after the course of oral treatment to help with the post inflammation. Me and the dermo already discussed it.
