Since I`m on a cycle and know this stuff if supposed to be "good for you" in many ways, I`m using fish oil caps. The caps have 400mg of EPA, 200mg of DHA and 630mg of omega 3`s. I take 6 a day, 2 caps 3 times a day. Is this a worth while dose or is it a waste?

I use extra strength Equate brand from Wal-Mart. 480EPA and 240DHA and 1200mg of omega 2's. I take 6 caps a day.

It has a shitload of benefits other than fat mobilization and anti inflamatory.

Oil is better than caps as you get more DHA/EPA with less volume.

I use Health first Brand as it is micro filtered for heavy metals and other crap, has no fich aftertaste at all and is lemon flavoured.

Have at least 6g a day of DHA+EPA more if you are over 200lbs or is just starting to take it aand don't forget to count it towards you total kcal intake

The xpn brand is supposed to be good right? I saw sisu liquid fish oil in the pharmacy and the formula sucked. It had 850EPA and 500DHA per 5ml and there were 100ml in the bottle. So 20 servings for $25, not a good buy.

So each cap has about 600mg of DHA+DHA, therefore would have to take 10 a day. I`m affraid I`ll be burping fish oil all day. Plus since I weigh about 230you could say I`d need 12 of them. Shit... As far as the cals go, it would be about an extra 110 cals, no big deal there as most my meals are protein+fats they blend in nicely.

1tbs of XPN fish oil has 888mg of DHA. There is 240ml per bottle. If you take one serving a day, the bottle will last you 48 days, costing you $50.

If I were to aim that amount taking my fish oil caps I would need about 4.5 caps yielding 900mg of DHA and costs me $25, and would last 53 days because there are 240 caps per bottle. Is the XPN oil available anywhere for a discounted price?

Actually a good product for DHA is and I hate to say this, is Biotest`s Flameout. 4 caps gives you 2200mg of DHA, a 3 week supply comes out to $30 us. So $40 a month and has added CLA in it. Factor is exchange and the price is very close. If you compare that to XPN`s product you get about 2.5 x`s the amount of DHA, this product may be worth looking into.

The problem with flax oil is that you body dosen`t get any DHA from it and hardly converts to EPA as I found out from reading this text:

For decades a debates have been fought about whether flaxseed oil could provide adequate levels of EPA. The verdict - flaxseed should never be used for its EPA producing ability.

Flaxseed oil is a wonderful healing oil but it is not a source of EPA.

Having said, I will often add flaxseed oil to many of my salad dressings and other foods but it is not the oil I use for EPA and DHA.

Research shows that flaxseed oil is poorly converted to EPA and that it provides absolutely no DHA. One study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition evaluated 45 healthy men and post-menopausal women (18 to 65). They all had normal cholesterol and were asked to eat olive oil as their oil source. They were divided into 3 groups. One got ALA (alpha linolenic acid - from flax) and the other two with a supplemental form of EPA.

Each was given 750mg for 3 weeks and then 1,500mg for 3 weeks in a supplement. Both the EPA groups had significant increases in EPA in red blood cells however there was no increase in EPA in the ALA (flax) group. Neither the ALA nor EPA group showed significant increases in DHA; which, means that we should also supplement with DHA.

The reason why the flax ALA group did not witness an increase in EPA in red blood cells is because of an enzyme in the body that is needed to convert ALA to EPA.

This enzyme called the Delta-6-desaturase if not working properly stops the conversion of ALA to EPA. The Flax Council of Canada states that flaxseed has a limited conversion to EPA in healthy people of up to only 8%! However, new very sophisticated studies are showing that this is even rare.

Recommended daily intake is about 1 g of omega-3 a day... includes both DHA and EPA - so you could get away with 1-2 caps a day vs. the 6/day you're taking now... if you eat fatty fish 2-3 times a week you're fine but since you don't supplementing is a good idea... only reason to go higher is if your triglycerides are high, etc.
