ive been looking around on auto trader lately and emailing people for cars etc.. this shit has to be a scam.. im interested in this one car mainly at this moment.. 2007 Audi A4 and the owner set up a payment thing through ebaymotors and wants me to send cash through moneygram to some guy in California.. first off these prices are unreal.. secondly.. when i went to send the money.. the PO worker said some guy recently did this and sent money to someone in Cali and someone ended up picking it up in Texas, the man lost 10 grand.. so im really weary now.. what do you guys think?

Honestly if it seems to good to be true its because it always is! I would never ever buy a car unless I could drive it home as soon as the payment is made.

Hahaha.... no offense, but I can't believe you actually went to the post office to do this. These are scams that have been going on for a while now. If it's not local, it's a scam. Every one of them. "I'm out of the country.... blah blah blah.....".

Glad you didn't go through with it, you would've been ****ed.

I agree they should be more thoroughly regulated, it's out of control. Scammers are everywhere these days... really gotta keep a bit of doubt in the back of your mind when dealing with anything on the net these days.

I was once shopping for a BMW and came a cross a great deal. I was so excited, but then the guy gave me his bullshit story how he is out of country, but trusts me and said for me to send him half now, and half after I get the car delivered. Sounds good right? well he still gets thousands of dollars!!!! I ****ed with him on email for a while then got bored.

I would NEVER buy anything online unless its local, or from a dealership, and I would research to make sure the dealership is legit.

Personally, I would feel more comfortable buying from someone on a forum specialising in the vehicle you are interested in. There are tonnes of them and if someone has been posting for a while and selling a vehicle at least you can be comfortable it's not a scam.

Alternatively there's always dealerships even though you will pay more.

For a Subaru I was on the toronto subaru forums

and for mustang

Man you're lucky the post office dude gave you a heads up... Lots of people get scammed this way. I have friends of friends who just got too excited when they saw a good deal that they believe any BS and lost out on money.

A good question to ask even for something local....who services it?Stops them dead if it's a scammer.

HOLY!!! Very truthfull!!

My fiancee was looking at an infinity fx35 serie right out of Vancouver....she showed me the auto-trader addy---7000.00 for a 2006 mint condition...blah blah divorce story....I told her to do it Cost on Delivery.....she spoke to the bitch from Vancounver and told her COD only....than the bitch said that my girl could send the money via ebay, then have the car for 7 days, try it out, and if she did not like it, that ebay would return the funds, and take the car back through a return item set up.

Once my fiancee strongly suggested COD only, the4 bitch from Vancouver never replied back.

I CANNOT believe this bullshit is happening....and many are getting caught over it.
