We decided to buy a second home ....One in BC, now one here........we were going to build, but we looked around a bit and found a whack of pre-built homes on the market and were find the exact home we had fantasized about for a long time....
we just purchased the prebuilt home yesterday and signed final papers....
They pay the legal fees, and all transfer costs, all costs period...We walk in with payment and set-up, no extra charges..
And the kicker is we negotiated a great deal...Now is the time to negotiate, like right now...we actually got 80,000 off the original asking price, still paid a shitload for house, but got a steal of a deal compared to building....complete with view of the rockies, awesome deck, 2200 sq feet, hi end package...no headaches...we were in a huge boom in the west here, now things have slowed and we are taking advantage of empty homes...
If you have time to look and are in a decent sized area, take the time..

Congrats on the new house Inked, looks sweet...Moving is always an adventure....:)

I have built two places. I did a lot of the finishing work myself on both. Getting the trades to play nice is more difficult than herding cats.

nice crib inked!...built 2 now and never again (I think) both were a royal pain in the ass, we'd go and look every wk or so to find no one around, see the same crew startin on other projects etc...after it was all said and done is when we heard all that bad shit about this particular builder, even after a yrs worth of homework!.....ah but once your "in" all the hate disappears ...lol congrats bro!

Very nice house Inked, I know what you mean, I work in resedential construction and I see all the bullshit everyday, I once seen a plumber bite off an electricians ear because the guy kicked the plumbers old dog that he always brought to work with him. I have seen stuco and Landscapers fighting about the mess, I have seen drywallers get one pay advance and not show up for a week. I have seen contractors make mistakes worth 50 thousand bucks, lol I bet your glad its OVER!
