Was looking to put a fence in the back yard....was wondering what was the best type of wood to put up? Wasn't looking for the regular green pressure treated stuff. Something more fancier :)

I like the pre-made Cedar fences, I like to use concrete in the post holes too. Kinda pricey but saves you alot of work and each panel is perfect.

someone down the road from us used untreated pine planks (12" wide) instead of fenceboard and it looks killer imo. they obviously stained it and treated it...no idea how long it will last but it looks cool.

Go with the PT and stain it the color you like.

you need to use pressure treated lumber for your posts, for the rest use whatever is economical to you. if you use a high quality outdoor stain it will last a pretty long time.
whatever you do, do not cheap out on the stain. you will regret it.
I did my fence 3 years ago, and it still looks the same as it did when I finished it.
and its just regular softwood lumber.
