So I did my first shot today ever in my quad 0.5mL of finaplex (100mg test prop 100mg tren ace per mL) the needle hurt going in and about 8 hours later there is alot of pain in my quad. Any tips to lesson the pain?

Does it feel like a charlie horse or like a welt or what kind of pain? It sounds to me like you went through a nerve or you flexed while the pin was in, you must keep your quad relaxed when you pin there and you will find out through trial and error where the nerves are LOL, I have 2 favorite spots on each quad and they are painless now, I hate pinning glutes.

my first quad shot left me limping for about a week. Pain was so bad... Stretch, put heat/cold and take some ibuprofen

Yes heres the best tip youll get....DONT EVER DO QUAD SHOTS!!! How many times do i need to tell people this....99% of all bad shots including abcesses come from quad shots...there are so many other safer places to shoot.
Pick one!!!!

I meant it as best for me. Not everyone else. I really don't give a shit where anyone else shoots. I like them.

You know what big P, everyone is different when it comes to tollerance for injections, personally I have had more bad Delt shots than i care to remember,
I have the quads figured out and I prefer that location, but I dont recomend quads to a newbie. JMHO

Its funny b/c most of the abscesses hear about are delt shots. Quads are good if you can handle it and mine have handled everything but prop up to now.

If you've shot glutes and delts, where else would a newbie shoot? Lats? I cringed at even thinking about it when I first started but now I know lats are great.

Quad shots are notorious for going bad. Iv posted this many times. Maybe you havent had a bad shot yet but if you continue i gaurantee you will. The anatomy of the quad only reiterates this point more strongly. There are many nerve endings as well as fascia covering the muscle. This does not bode well for IM injections. Yes they work, and yes you may like them but they are the worst choice out of any site. The statement you made "quad shots are the best" is a newbie statement even if you are not a newbie it suggests incorrect info to those looking for accurate info.
No hate involved...just accurate information.

Glutes, delts, lats, rear delts are all good. Delt shots get a bad rap mainly because they are the most accessible doing shots yourself and thus get overly done. Abcesses are common because shots are not rotated frequently enough and the oil tends to build up over time. If you regularily rotate sites,,,youll have no issues.

this is true if you dont shoot in the right place.. if you shoot in the upper quad a hand width away from you hip you will never gain any abcesses there.. but you have to shot on a 45 degree angle.. not straight down.. this is my fav place to shoot hands down.

It is the only place I have shot myself. Easy the reach, easy to use two hands, can see whats happening...injecting to fast, blood in the pin. sit down, relax and all goes well. Myself I have found the "sweet spots" and keep that area shaved so it is easy to find. I did have some pain once but it was the gear and not the shot.

I never said quad shots are best; you're putting words in my mouth. I said they are good. We're not all built the same and quad shots work for me, irregardless of the fact that there's a lot of nerves. I pass by them quite often when I shoot and almost expect to get a jolt but it doesn't bother me.

My personal favorite is lats; huge muscle and I can see everything I"m doing and it's one of the reasons why I like quads as well.

quad shots are evil!!! I will never do them again...i've done it around 5 or 6 times and was crippled everytime i did it. It's such a dense muscle that i find the oil seeps out and sits sub Q and then leeches down to my knee cap... worst pain ever!! ventro gluteal, delts and sometimes lat shots are what i stick too!

I would imagine this is where usually the problem lies. It's a huge muscle, multiple heads and people just have no damn clue where to inject.

I did the right quad today no problem I think I tensed my left quad when the pin was in it or hit a nerve.

The one that got sore was on the mid outside quad the one today that was painless was on the outside upper quad.

Your doing it wrong then. That should not happen. It happened my first time and my knee got red and swollen. Move to the outside more and jab the needle on a 45*.

I just stand up and put my weight on the side I'm not shooting into. Then do the old reach behind and jab. It's a little akward at first especially trying to aspirate with one hand. Just remember shoot the upper/outer quadrent and 1.5 inch pins.

I've always done my quads on the outer quadrant... it's not hard to see the heads in my quads at all lol....it's just too dense of a muscle to inject into i find and i get brutal pain from it.... too bad because they're so easy. All this talk of injecting reminds me it's time to shoot some prop!!!
