Nice dog. Ridgeback's can be very great dog's with good temperments if trained properly. They also have a tendency to very protective. A real nice managerie you have going on.
Here's a pic of our dog Willow. We've had her now for about 5 months. She is from a rescue Org. and was severly abused prior to being rescued, she had never left her cage for at least a year and was bred with god knows what, on at least 2 occassions. She had one litter and was pregnant with another litter that had to be terminated. She is a very skittish dog and attached to the wife real quick at first, me on the other hand it has taken a real long time for her to start trusting me. If were alone in the house she'll stay in any room except the one im in. but if there is other people home then she'll come right too me, even snuggle on the couch and rump and play. (it is very strange to say the least) I never had a rescue before and it has been very trying at times, (especially the first time she went to bite me because she thougth I was to close to the wife) we corrected her and where her place is in the hierarchy. I found being on Tren and trying not to be angry and frustrated turned into a very good lesson of self control when on gear lol. The first month with us this dog could not even go to the bathroom outside, we had pee pads and sheets everywhere. But she was too scared to go potty if anyone was home. I sat on the floor for weeks with my back to her, so she could smell me and look at me without fearing that I would jump at her. She 's doing great these days and loves to play outside and gets the cats going crazy by playing with them, she loves to eat half my supper with me, no matter what it is. I can give her belly rubs and armpit scratchs now, She has gotten real protective of us and the house. She'll bark at strangers once or twice and then sit and stare at the door till we get there, then she greets them and goes to lay down. She still has no idea that it's bad to step in your own poop, or even what a ball is and how to play with a stick, but that's ok. I can't tell you how rewarding it has been watching this transformation happen. I hope you can experience this somehow, someday.
Peace.

German shepherds are weird dogs. Mine wouldn't eat in front of me or go to the washroom if anyone was around, but very loyal though.

Our Min-Pin is a rescue aswell, sounds like you and I both went through the same ordeal with them at new, came house trained but just didn't know what to think of the wife and I, now he thinks he owns us LOL!!! My Ridgeback, well she's part human for sure, she even tries to talk to you, awesome pets, they are my children.

My Best friend Died last year after I brought him home forom the vet. He was old and in for something simple and they overdosed him. I think its time for a new one but I cant decide what breed, I really like sheppards but the g/f wont go for it, I have been looking for a blue heeler pup, I had one years ago and it was pure awesome. You basicly dont even need a leash when you go for a 5:00am run. So obedient and loyal! I also like dobermans but they are getting hard to find and expensive! would love to see more pice of everyones pets! great thread!

Havent had a dog in years, but currently deciding if my lifestyle will allow one right now. The breeds I have been trying to decide between are a Labradoodle or a Weimaraner.
My sister recently got a Labradoodle and its an awesome dog, acts very much like a Lab, but has the calmness of a large breed poodle.
But I am leaning more towards a Weimaraner. I have always loved the look of this dog, especially one with blue eyes, and they are very loyal and energtic.
We'll see what I decide, but I would love to see some more of your guys dogs!

you betchya, click on the picture, I'm using Micro Soft picture manager, at the top of the page it says " Edit Pictures" click that. then go to the right side of the page, go to "compress picture" click there, above that you will pick a file, compress for " web pages" then save as a file again, it may tell you it already exists, resave it. Then you are able to upload as a proper size to the thread.
Hope this helps.
