PVR portable hard drive to computer

Well, I tried to record a show in HD tonight and then brought the hard drive over to my computer to see if I can do some editing. Now the computer won't even recognize the hard drive. If I hook it back up to the Bell ird, it reads it.

Thoughts?

Is it an AC or USB powered unit? If it is USB your USB ports may not be putting out enough power to run the drive. You can get Y cables that supply extra power to the drive. You can also try a powered USB hub. You can also try a different usb port.

I believe Bell PVRS format the drives to be EXT3 that's probably why.

Boot off a Knoppix CD and see if you can read the drive. Most of the stuff that's recorded to a PVR external HD is encrypted and it's not as easy as drag-n-drop to get it on your PC.

Was hoping for an easy transfer. I thought it was recorded in MPEG2? So transferring to my hard drive would a lot of work?
