Anybody else notice this. I went to 3 different stores at the mall and the price was roughly $20 more for whey. I tried to purchase 5lbs of ON whey that used to cost me $44, today it was $65. What the f--k! How can the cost of whey go up so much? This is complete bullshit.

No Its a fact! Protein did and will go up maybe even more in the future! For sure gaz price as some thing to do but the real reason comes from china! The way of life is slowly changing they start to eat more like the north american and if you look at what we eat 70% of what we buy at the market as some kind of a dairy base, so suddenly 2 billion people are starting to eat more dairy product and by the way there is not much cow down there soo..! I heard a group of china men bought one of the biggest dairy transformation factory in canada to supply china so i guess it will be worst with time!!!

You can thank free trade for this one. Why a country that exports 75% of its ag produce should be paying the same price as Chinese for wheat is beyond me.

You can also thank the ethanol shame for making your cheat day pasta binges more expensive.

edit: true protein hasn't increased their prices yet. Maybe time to order bulk. Just beware of UPS.

Ok, I posted this somewhere else and I will post it here too. Protein prices have gone up. With some research and some feedback from wholesalers, I found out that even whey protein concentrate went up in price dramatically. The saddest part of all is the not only the wpc 80 was popular in purchasing but also wpc35. That means a lot of protein suppliers will be putting wpc35 instead of wpc80 as the concentrate. If your protein prices have not gone up, you ARE NOT GETTING WHAT YOU PAID FOR or you are getting a cheap version of protein. As a few of us had realized, if your protein hasn't gone up between 5-8 dollars (AT THE LEAST) then you are getting something bad. All wholesalers are selling for at least that much more per kg so anything less than that means you may be using wpc35. Ask most retailers or guys in the know about this stuff and they'll tell you the same.

Try this place Bulkfoods.com, Strategos had mentioned it before. I just ordered and received, shipped to my door in less than a week 10lbs of whey protein isolate, for 98$ cdn. including shipping. It is plain isolate, no flavoring or any orther crap added. I flavor it myself, some vanilla extract or fruit. I like to use a 50g scoop which gives 45g of protein per serving. Great stuff and mixes easily.

I barely drink now. Maybe twice a month, but the way things are with protein prices, beer might be a cheaper alternative to weight gainer.lol

This will have to change too. It should be priced at least $125-$130 or more for them to stay in the profit area. They may just be passing their old stock but new stuff is higher priced no matter where you are in the world.

I guess that's true. The sales clerk at GNC said that prices went up internationally.

Ive heard Whey is being mixed into cattle feed as well in Australia, as it bulks up the cattle as well. Of course, with cattle eating that much more than us, prices in Oz went through the roof a year or two ago.

Seems like we're catching up.

Great.

****ing cry about it some more. protein powder is still cheaper bang for your buck than tuna, beef, or chicken. go play badminton if you don't like it. every time we see a 1 cent increase in gas prices do you want to start a thread about that too? suck it up, it's $20. think of how the stores must feel, that's gotta hurt.

Just tried that Bulkfoods.com place. I tried to put in an order and I got a security pop up (firefox) saying that their thinga majigger of authenticity could not be verified. One of the possible reasons it listed for this was that this site was PRETENDING to be bulkfoods.com. Kinda makes me wary about giving them my info.
