Just wondering if anyone else is competing in this show. Its next weekend June 27th. I only found out about it about 5 weeks ago. I will be competing in it despite the fact I was going to take the year off. Its a low key show with no pro cards. Just doing it for fun and kind of a tune up for next year when I compete in Kelowna for the BCABBA Western Canadians.

If your in the area come by and come say hi

This is what I look like

Today is show day. Just about to eat some breakfast ( protein pancakes ). I am also cooking up some sweet potato to eat as I need it before stepping on stage at the pre judging.

i helped judge this show last year, and the overall was awarded to the promoters boyfriend, even though 5 of the judges had the lightweight winner for the overall. the so called head judge over ruled us all, even though he went against his own criteria that he laid out at the begining of the show for us to judge on. never will i return to help or watch.

but good luck man? guess its over now how did ya do?

I dont have the pics up yet but I will get them up soon. I first won my weight class ( middleweight ) Than I took the overall at the end of the night. The event was a good one. I had a great experience.

To be fair about the event physique the show was not put on last year. The organizer took the year off from putting the event on because she had twins. So the last Western Naturals before this year was 2007.

I will post pics when I get them in.

Physique was referring to 2007.

This show is a joke. Always has been, always will be. I heard there were 4 male competitors in total between all of the classes this year?

Are they still taking money from each individual competitor for a drug test, and then testing nobody?

The first year they had this show Pete Welsh was specifically asked to compete when the promoter knew for a fact he was cranked to the tilt.. Then he actually was tested (as the show used to be a BCABBA-sanctioned event) because the promoter had no control of who got tested (even though she told Pete that she had full control of this). Then, needless to say he fails his test, and gets a front-page spread on the Nanaimo Daily News about how he used gear in a natural show. Classy move.

I won't even begin to talk about the other bullshit that surrounds this show each and every year, but the fact is I used to make a point of attending, and now realize it's just a waste of everyone's time, money, and contest preparation.

There were 4 competitors in each category not 4 total.

I do not have a clue as to the history of this event as I have never done it before. I only moved over to the Island a year ago. I found out about the show only 6 weeks ago. I was going to take the year off from competing but saw a poster for the show in my local gym. At the time I was leaning out for the summer. Since I was pretty close already I decided to do the show and stated dieting down.

I have no clue about the drug testing but if they want to drug test me thats fine. Just so you know though if you saw all the competitors you would see that a drug test would be a waste of time anyways. Their is no way any of these guys were cranking it.

You can run the show down as you may have had a bad experience but I had a blast. All the competitors were allot of fun to be around, the volunteers were very helpful and they supplied food, water, coffee, snacks etc.

I have posted pics of the event in the Natural Section of this forum
