Well my dell is slowly starting to go. Its starting to overheat and randomly shut down or freeze. A couple dead pixels, missing buttons, to say the least its a piece of crap... Anyways since I don't know much about computers I was hoping you guys could help me select one...

Anyways some features I would like to have in it, is a HDMI output and blu-ray reader built in (will be connecting to my tv and dont want a separate blu-ray player) and if possible a 15" screen as I still want to be able to move it around in my bag. Um thats about it, OH and I would like it to not overheat lol if possible...

Anyone got any ideas???

Budget?

Rule #1: Stay clear of HP.

Future shop and Toshiba.... i just bought a Toshiba laptop with the intel centrino t-6400 processor, 4GB of ram, 320GB harddrive and a 17 inch monitor for 799.99...hard to beat that for the price.

I love my Toshiba. Best laptop I've ever had. Similar specs to gustavo's.

picked up an HP hdx 18 and then upgraded it to 8 gigs, QX9300 quad core, an 80 gig intel ssd as my boot drive and a 7200 spin data drive and I'm very happy with it.

The 18" monitor is just small enough to be portable. The 20" dragon would have been to big to carry about.

I absolutely love Macs, but I would never get a macbook. Id get a desktop, as I would use it for illustrator and other editing software...

So its either a toshiba or dell (dell only because I can get a 15" with the things I want)...

edit: looking at a 17" hp, the price is in my range and has everything I want just it has Vista, which I would have to figure out to get rid of. I remember reading Microsoft is going to be giving free copies of windows 7 for anyone who purchases a vista comp now???
