Well, here are my pics. I placed third out of 6 in my class. I guess that's pretty good for a first show. I was pleased with my placing and it gives me a goal for next year.
After looking at the pictures, I realized I was way too smooth and needed to lose another 10 lbs of water weight. Next year, I would like to come in at the same weight (154) but shredded. We'll see...
As it turned out, I was 157.5 at the weigh in's, but after 20 mins of being wrapped up in garbage bags and sitting in the van with the heat cranked, I weighed in at 154 on the button. BTW, I was 14 lbs heavier than the first place winner.
On to the pics, flame away...:)
Morning show is in black trunks, Evening in blue.

Good job, bro... good also that you realize where you went wrong... at your estimated 10lbs of extra water weight, you still placed 3rd... thats a good sign for next year... good luck with it...

You look great for your first show Flap...congrats and well done!!!
Just a word of advice...you dont have 10lbs of water to lose...not at your height and weight. You do have 10lbs at least to lose....but it will come from fat not water. Many guys make that mistake and it will cause issues in the future. Learning from the past is the best way to do well in the future. If you get shredded youll drop a few pounds of water thats it. Its a fine tuning adjustment not a break the damn and let the river run type of thing.

Exactly what I was thinking. Losing 10lbs of water IMO would have made you look worse not better. Great job Flapjack!

Flapjack,
Well done. You carry good size. At most shows its the competitor with the best conditionaing and size, so a little longer dieting for the next show will do the trick. Impressive legs for your height...you have a bright future ahead of you!

Ya, I made some mistakes and I know I need to work on them. I'm looking forward to improving next year. I really need to figure out how to make my arms grow. They have been the same size for the last 10 years!!! (15.5") I need o be leaner, but I think I can make that happen...

Focus on the triceps and bulk up, your arms will grow. Are you familiar with DC training? The extreme tricep stretch is great to finish with. Do a lot of stuff that focuses on the long head: skull crushers, rolling DB tricep extensions, Close grip bench, dips. I train my triceps after chest and shoulders. Arms grew 2'' in a year w/o drugs and that was after I had been training for years and done 2 shows. My triceps are no longer a weak point. Now if I could only bring my chest up...
great job. When I went in my first show my trainer had the best advice for knowing when you are ready for the show. Once you are at the weight where you think you are ready for the stage - lose another 10 lbs. For me at least this has held true. At the gym pre contest you always feel and look great but once you get to the weigh in and you see everyone you realize what it takes to win.
