Here is teh deal.

I am eating 60/40 fat/prot.

Feeling great, no problems what so ever.

Last Saturday I had my cheat meal: sushi, desert and 3 glasses of wine.

Sunday I had cravings and on Monday I was the heaviest in a long time and teh bf% reading was up as well.

I believe that that given meal messed up with my water retention and I got those readings yesterday.

My question is: why bother?

I love the way I am eating, I have no problems at all and I feel great and them I had that meal and psychologically it wasn't helpful at all.

Is there any physiological need to have this "cheat" meal?????

Change is good ! Shocking your system is good once a week. Don't use my last food bender as an example i was way offside. The booze is hard to process especially if your using any oral MED's

Depends on whether you eating "clean" or if you "dieting" (ie, getting ready for a show). If your eating clean just to get stay lean, maintain or even build some muscle. The I'd say no. If you don't want a cheat meal, don't bother. But when dieting hard your metabolism starts to slow after a while. A cheat day once a week keeps your metabolism revved up.

NO show for me.

I have been on this diet for 2 weeks only, I decided to pay more attention on the calorie intake in order to speed up the fat loss.

But right now I see no need to do this cheats, thanks

A good/clean cheat meal once a week helps get a storehouse of glycogen in case of emergencies as per Palumbo but I don't think it's critical. My cheat meals are pretty meager.

Basically, when your body and cravings start driving you nuts, then have a cheat day or meal. If you're body is just fine, and there's no real cravings... just keep on your diet.

Exactly! I can go two weeks usually.

Thanks guys.

I am a rookie doing this and right now my only desire is to have fruit.

Every morning I look better and my 1st deadline is for next weekend. It will be Pride here in Toronto and I know that I'll need all the carbs in order to be able to party without killing myself.

My question now is about creatine.

Should I take it?

I see advantages in term of muscle hydration and help with recovery but I am not sure about the look.

Will I look rounder?

Ok first off throw the BF tester in the garbage...thats where it belongs...useless p of s.
A cheat meal (NOT day...a cheat day will halt fat loss for too long its complete overkill) serves a few purposes physically and mentally. It helps keep you sane when dieting very strictly. It gives you something to look forward to on a weekly basis. It spikes the thyroid (increases T4 to T3 conversion) and increases leptin levels which fall due to very low carbs.
It also stores glycogen for training for the week because if you are on on a keto diet you cannot use ketones for fuel while training...you need glycogen.
Calling it a cheat meal is a misnomer actually because that illicits a negative or guilty emotional reaction in some.
It should be called a refeed MEAL!
Creatine is fine...it will actually help. If competing stop it a week out.
