View Full Version : Rotisserie chicken FTW!
I started buying spit cooked whole chickens recently to save some prep cooking time and MAN ARE THEY DELICIOUS. Eating a large portion of this chicken with a hefty amount of vegetables is quite filling and takes very little prep time.
All you have to do is strip all the meat off the bones and throw it in the fridge till its ready to go. It can be eaten both cold and hot and is still delicious. I am going to be eating these for a while to come.

Salty butter, and its cooked with the skin on for extra fat and flavour.
If it tastes that good its not good for you, I love 'em too but only once a month.

I checked with my local supermarket and they just dump seasoning salt on them. No extra fat added unless they are coming pre-basted. I also boil the bones for stock.
it cant be THAT fatty its not that oily when im eating it. i can use the extra fats anyways as i work / train / play hockey quite a bit.
i just love the taste of this stuff. so good.

Try not to eat the skin if you can avoid it I know it's good.

they usually list the ingredients in the baste and seasonings somewhere on the little plastic crate they sell the chicken in. THe ones at safeway and costco have all sorts of kinds of butter, tons of salt, sugar even.....best to do your own using breasts.
i am just SO SICK of cooking chicken breasts and beef. boneless, skinless, chicken has NO FLAVOUR, and im so sick of eating it. Im gonna eat this stuff for a while and see if it makes me fat. if it does ill switch it up.

Are you overcooking it?
I use a thermometer, and it has made my chicken taste so much better.
I eat chicken 2-3 times a day for the past 5 months.
^^ no im just lazy and i am so sick of prep cooking that i just season it and let it be.
id way rather someone else cooked it for me, hence the spit chicken. i highly doubt it will make me fat, its not very oily when im eating it.

I think as long as you skip the skin your fine, I dont taste any butter or extra salt on the ones I buy + you really cant beat the fact that the whole chicken is barely a $1 more than just 2 skinless boneless breasts.
i eat the skin for sure. its the best part lol!

For the amount of time it takes you to peel that greasy meat from all the bone, grizzel and cartalidge then bag it and the clean all the grease off your hands and the mess you made you could BBQ up 2 or 3 kgs of chicken breasts and spice them up with some tasty low carb spices. Bag and seal the peices in the fridge and have tasty white breast meat and your fingertips. That's the way I see it.
^^ no way dude, not even close. plus BBQ chicken breast has no flavour compared to these juicy whole chickens. plus i love eating all the cartilage and other juicy goodness that the whole bird provides. i can pick that bird clean in under 5 minutes no problem.

You're kind of an ecto like me. I highly doubt you need to worry about a little extra fat on your chicken. Probably loaded with sodium, but if your water intake is high you probably don't have to worry about that either.
I love the pre-cooked rotisserie chickens.

I worried about how healthy they were for a day, then I bought another one and somehow dont care anymore. I cant diet right now anyway since I just keep getting bigger and stronger and dont really wanna slow down the gains any.
