Starting a poll to see who's going to buy a t-shirt and what size. If you will buy more than 1, please state it in the thread so I can get a rough figure of how many to get done.
This will be an OPEN poll so your name will be displayed to all.

Do you know how big the XXL's will be? i.e. shoulder seam to shoulder seam? Some of my 2XL's are a bit too small and others fit fine.
thanks :)

I guess a little guys gonna have to get one, a M for me. Any idea what they are going to cost?
I assume they will be a similar quality and style to the Muscle Nexus shirts of long ago??? If so, I encourage everyone to grab one. I still wear my MN shirt, although the logo is somewhat faded. I believe I got it in 2004, so I think its lasted quite well.
I am in for an XL and XXL...

Different than bear's. The shirts will be black and of different quality. I have to go to the shop to choose the shirts. I'm rather picky on quality. I will see how much their american apparel shirts are as those tend to be of best quality but can't guarantee it will be those. It depends on price.
For those that know a little bit about silk screen t-shirts, this is how it goes:
$20-30 for each screen they must produce. Since we have a 4 color image, it will be a minimum of 4 screens. If I need something on the front, then extra screens.
Then there is a setup fee. That would be to actually set up the screens with ink on the press. So that is usually about $3-5/color.
Then the printing. Not sure here on how they charge. Maybe up to $1/color, maybe less.
The first time print is what is most expensive as I need to get the screens done. After that, I don't have to pay to get them redone unless I change the logo.
Then the shirts. Shirts can be as cheap as $2.50 each or as expensive as $8 depending on quality.
So my target is to charge the shirts $15 plus $5 for packaging and shipping. So $20. For those who buy multiple shirts, you only pay shipping once.
Sound fair to you guys/gals?

16-06-2009, 01:19 PM
Ok, I got the pricing at a good place.
It would be a 5 color job as white has to be placed underneath the colors on black shirts (I forgot about that).
So setup fee for films, screens is $254.
$2 per actual print of the shirt.
Then it all depends on the shirt I pick.
Black tshirts, Gilden and MNL (very popular) are $5 until XL, anything over goes to $7.50/shirt. And that is without print.
American Apparel (probably nicest and best quality t-shirts out there are $9.60.
So regardless of whichever way I go, the cheapest a tshirt can cost without the $254 setup is 9.50, most expensive is $11.60.
I figure to get 200 shirts done if possible so that would mean add an extra $1 per tshirt to include setup fee. So my price for actually getting it all done will be around $11-13 per tshirt. This is all no tax of course.
This is with no logo on front. But quality print on back and quality sweater.
I will go to the shop tomorrow to check things out and try to price it down a little.
MuSuLPhReAk
16-06-2009, 01:20 PM
So if I do 200 shirts, it'll cost me almost $3k with tax in. That would be all American Apparel (best quality).
Thoughts?

I say go with American Apparel. I'd rather pay a little more for a good quality t-shirt personally.

I'm glad you are doing this for love because it's a tough way to make a thousand as you will also be handling close to 200 orders and shipments to make this work. I might have to order 2.
Pre-orders might make this a little easier as that way you can at least reduce a little risk and make the first shipping a little less painful.
You may want to have a chat with a couple of our sponsors and see if they have any ideas for you or feel up to volunteering to support the shipping. There are a few that at least have the infrastructure in place to make it a bit less painful.
go with american apparel. they make all my PS3 promo clothing and its pretty good quality. im down for an XL for sure. let me know.

You know what would look SWEET is if you got some long sleevers and put CANADABODYBUILDING.COM down the side of the arm.......
american apparel stuff tends to be somewhat fitted. are you going with a fitted style / size shirt or a more "regular" cut / fit?

I think I'm going to do some american apparel and some gilden. The women will love AA as it's tighter and will show their work more. Women look good in tight clothing :)
The men will have a choice of AA or gilden. I am to try to make a profit of 1k from everything as in the fall I would like to get long sleeves (with www.canadabodybuilding.com on the sleeves) and some hoodies done. Those will be more expensive of course. But one step at a time.
Sponsors, if you are reading this and you want sweaters, we can work something out. I can sell you the sweaters at what I pay and you add your logo on the front minus my logo fee of course. You'll have to contact me with how many you want and what sizes.

no shit eh. i actually made a couple sample ones a while ago using the logo on the site. i wear them to workout and jetski in.
i should just do a 100 or so up and sell them and send the moeny to MP. as u are right waiting for this too be done is taking too long.
instead of tshirts, i can do loose fit underarmour ones up. they would be a tad more money as the logo would be done in stitch, but they would look alot nicer

I'd be quite happy with the cbb logo over the left chest not too big on a black t-shirt.
I'm not a big fan of gaudy.
just the logo? or the canadabodybuilding.com part as well?

I actually like the idea of just the logo on the front. It's a pretty darn nice logo.
any chance we can get these in a nike dri-fit / under armour material?

thats exactly what i want to do. but it makes them alot more expensive.
i gotta go see the print guy tomorrow. and see what my options are.
using the logo on here in stitch i would bet wont be cheap.
i did my gym logo and store logo in stitch for dry fit underarmour shirts and i sell them for $39.99. if u guys think thats okay, then let me know.
otherwise i will start with just black tshirts with the logo on the left chest
thats not unreasonable. you cant screen the logo on though? would it be cheaper if you did?

actually tank tops are more expensive to make. the less cloth and more stitching one has to do to make it, raises the price.
wholesale tshirts are like $2 on average tank tops are $6-8
thats a huge difference
how about a sleeveless shirt?

I like a back patch myself
.....PH Nutrition has some awesome T's
Very true. The logo on the back reminds me of the public enemy shirts I used to wear as a teen for some reason.

The only problem I have with the dri-fit stuff is I tend to feel pretty darn greasy afterwards. Cotton is better at soaking up the oils that go with the sweat. As a workout t it's a good material but I don't like wearing it all day. I feel all grimy at the end of the day. Great for the gym and the material lasts a long time. I also really like the feel of the material.
Not really a yes or a no just idle chatter about the dri-fit stuff.
$40 makes it a little tough for me to justify buying 4 or 5. Any chance of both? Nice ones and practical ones?

i will do black tshirts and a sleeveless dri fit to start.
tshirts. the logo is going to be on the back. the problem with putting it on the left chest was you wouldnt see the canadian flag. as it would be too small. it would look squished together. so the option was across the front or across the back. to make it bigger and more presentable.
this should take me 2 weeks to have these shirts available. there will be a small run of shirts to start. as i dont want to tie up my money for the long haul no matter how much i love MP.

sizes will be m,l,xl,xxl, and xxxl.
there will 10m, 15L, 15xl, 15xxl, and 5xxxl to start for black tshirts for guys shirts.
womens will be available too. sizes m, l, and xl. but only 5 of each size in this first haul.

if you wish to reserve a shirt (s) just shoot me a pm. first come first served with this first batch of tshirts

If these t's sell out, I would not mind seeing some hoodies in the mix. But I can't see a hoodie looking good with the current logo. I will have to rework it. The logo is great for t's but a little too flashy for a hoodie imo.
I agree MP. Smaller would be better , IMO.
