View Full Version : FEAR ME!
I just did an hour and a half of BJJ with Gi, and then another hour and a half of MT.
These were my first lessons and by some miracle I didnt puke although I wanted to.
The coach says my jab and cross arent tight enough yet, but my left hook was so good that he didnt believe me when I told him that I have never boxed in my life lol

good work bro. i think a left hook is a natural asset, some people just have it. now you have to learn how to land it on a moving target;)
Ya I really wish I took this shit up earlier, it was all so much fun. biceps have a burn in them now way worse than any workout I have ever had, and I think its just from keeping my arms up that long lol.
Today I shall do about an hour and a half of straight boxing. Learning 4 diff styles at once hurts my brain lol

Same.. wish i got into it when was younger too. Try all the different arts that they offer at the club but i would suggest to just select one and get a good understanding of that, before moving on to another. i think practicing them all would be detremental and like you said hurt your brain.

I boxed for a few years when I was in high school. When I started training, my coach had me jabbing for whole heavy bag sessions. He was old school, we did cardio every training day (5 days a week) and as we progressed he added more to the program until we were doing 2 hours a day, with 5 rounds of sparring for the last half hour. It kept me in awesome shape.
oh god. we ran for a half an hour yesterday followed by pad, bag drills, and shadow boxing for 2 more hours. I have never swet so much in my life. I looked like I jumped into a lake.
I think I am just going to train MT and boxing 5 days a week then work the grappling in later once my endurance, and skill level gets a little better.

Start the jiu jitsu now.. its the hardest to learn and the most crucial to have.. stick with that and muay thai... those are the basics for MMA..just an opinion..
I am just going to add it back in after a couple of weeks. right now I am dying lol. Not gunna cut the boxing out because I will probably be able to get a match set up in like 4 months.

Keep it up bro. I train 5 days per week in my dojo and I pay a trainer $65 per hour for additional one on one training. I'm in my first televised fight next month on the Fight Network.
The rewards of hard training are well worth it.
So I have been at it for a month now and I am finally going to be sparring every day. My first day sparring was awesome. I went up against a guy that already had like five fights and I landed a shitload more punches on him then I would of ever expected that I would being my first time and all. Landed a bunch of 1,2's and 1,2,3's clean. Landed most of my left hooks wich are my favorite punch as well. Found I could see his patterns and pick him appart, but he was smart enough to re adjust. I think he did score a little more than me because he was good with his jab, but I hit harder.
Learned a few important things. Why I should keep my chin down after getting punched in the throat lol.
Getting hit with an uppercut gives you a nice jolt, and keep your mouth closed or your jaw will hurt like a bitch the next day lol.
Just doing 3 three minute rounds was more exausting then I thought it would be, and in all fairness to the guy I was sparring with I did have about 3 inches and 20 pounds on him.
