In Costco's defense, they have quality products, I don't think it would be too bad.

By the time you pay the lab costs $$ (( unless u know a lab student with access to test equipment ))

you could have the cost of vitamins covered for the year

I wasn't serious, incase you missed it.
THe point was he was putting down Kirkland products because (I'm assuming) the taste of the way, not the quality of the product. They try and keep costs down, so obviously they won't have the best tasting protein.

your right bro, the taste is horrible and doesnt mix very well, but i have no idea of the quality. It may be good quality.

I only take life brands 'spectrum performance" every once in a while (approx 3x/week). I eat pretty well, lots of vegetables, etc. so i don't see a need for it really.
I've never really been convinced they actually 'work'. more often then not i hear of supplemental vitamins being unhealthy. i.e. high intakes of vitamin A can cause increased risk of hip fractures in post menopausal women, too much beta carotine can be PRO oxidative not an antioxidant, the list going on here..

review of vitamin supplements (Medical Letter. 47(1213); p.57-8, 2005) concluded,

"Supplements are necessary to assure adequate intake of folic acid in young women and possibly of vitamins D and B12 in the elderly. There is no convincing evidence that taking supplements of vitamin C prevents any disease except scurvy. Women should not take vitamin A supplements during pregnancy or after menopause. No one should take high dose beta carotene supplements. A balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables may be safer than taking vitamin supplements. No biologically active substance taken for a long term can be assumed to be free of risk."

I do agree that athletes probably do need more of certain vitamins(niacin, B6), but a healthy lifestyle should supply more then enough of these....if you have poor diet, especially those restricting cals or eliminating food groups from the diet, then they should consider supplementing with a multivitamin/mineral supplement

"enthusiasts" of vitamins seem to always misrepresent the data that is out there...

anyways, that's just my opinion, i'm not an expert in this field..

You get what you pay for. In the land of UNREGULATED SUPPLEMENTS, it is easy to be misled. What you want is a potent, correctly profiled, highly absorbable vitamin that you dont have to take 10 of a day. That cancels out 99% of them.

Since when did regular multivitamins from the grocery shelf from reputable companies such as Bayer etc stop being enough?

You guys are being into way too much supplement shit.

The way I see it now, is even if you take the cheapest one, and it contains 1/2 of what it says, that is probably more than enough for most of us. Most of us are eating 6 times a day with pretty vitamin/mineral rich food we are getting most of what we need. While dieting we may be lacking a bit, but probably still well above the average person.

Go to GNC and check out their discount shelf. Once a product hits the 1-year mark it has to marked down. Now, GNC does have a quota on Multi's so they are rare to find in the discount area but it's worth a look.

One thing I've discovered that really keeps my supplement costs way down is purchasing everything online. I order everything I need for about 3 months all at once so I only pay shipping once, and I can get way better prices that way. One good multivitamin I've found that is pretty reasonable is Pomology. They make a men's multi (http://www.*********************/product_info.php?products_id=2821) as well as a women's multi (http://www.*********************/product_info.php?products_id=2822), and both are really good. And I've been able to order them online along with my other stuff.

why would you pay shipping at all? most places have free shipping on orders over 100$... and
