Hi Everyone! :ht
Just wanted to quickly say hi - I know as far as sponsors go, we've been a bit quiet so far, but hopefully that will change!
I want to give a huge thanks to MP for all the help in getting set up here, and for finding some great people to review one of our new products! And of course another huge thanks to all of our reviewers!!
I'm going be working on a few things for everyone here at CBB, but in the meantime if anyone has any suggestions/questions/comments/etc., feel free to post them or send me a message!

Welcome to CBB Weider. It's great to have you here. The tester/review thing you are doing is awesome. I hope it works out great. No one better to test your products than the ones you are marketing them for :)

Thanks for all the welcomes!
Tiamat - thanks a lot for the support and I agree completely - who better to test out a new product than the ones who would actually be interested in taking the product!
We're actually very excited about the Krea-Genic launch - our German division has had it on the market for about 1 1/2 years and they've had great feedback! So we're excited to be able to launch it here in Canada!
Ritch - hahaha that made me laugh :D but also makes me realize something I missed in my original post - which is to introduce myself! I'm Kelly (or uncle Joe if you really prefer) and I'll be the Weider Canada rep for this board, so feel free to send any comments, questions or suggestions my way!
Thanks again for the welcomes everyone!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
As St mentioned, you can still get our products at Wal-mart, as well as other pharmarcies, such as Shoppers, Jean Coutu, Loblaws (Real Canadian Superstore, Maxi, etc), Sobeys West and online at costco.ca and shopweider.com (and shopweider.com is where i'll be getting some specials set up for everyone here).
As for Tigers Milk bars - I couldn't agree more - they really are amazing! Unfortunately, Tigers Milk bars were a Schiff product - Schiff is a vitamin/mineral company which used to be part of Weider until 2005 - so after the company separation, Tigers Milk was no longer available for us to sell here. (they are still available in the US though, and believe me - when we manage to get a few boxes here in the office, they definitely don't last long!)
faller - we don't have any protein pills, but we do still have our Amino 12000.
And we still have our Megabolic Paks available - just launched a new look for them actually - and we have 2 great tasting gainers - Weight Gainer and Mega Mass 4000.
We are working on quite a few new products and ideas right now, and definitely I'll be checking in to let everyone know and hopefully even get some feedback on what you want to see in a product/formula

It's really nice to see Weider sponsoring a canadian board. I hope we are not too much of a culture shock for your marketing organization. Much of the supplement/fitness industry has jumped onto the web and embraced some incredibly shady marketing practices in the last few years. While there are obviously a few skeletons in the Weider closet it seems like you have taken a pretty conservative stance on your product and your claims in the last few years (comparitively). The bodybuilding boards tend to be a bit of a wild west show.
I hope you can bring not only your products but also real knowledge in the areas of supplementation, training, and diet from your organization. I'm sure the community represented on this board would appreciate input the goes beyond "bro science" in all of these areas.
welcome. :)

So tell me Kelly, what is double buffered creatine? And how is it better than plain monohydrate? (Somebody had to ask sooner or later)

tiramisu - thanks for the great response! As for culture shock - it would take a lot to shock me :D. Seriously though - definitely Weider has gone the route of traditional, safe and effective when it comes to our products in the past several years. I think a lot of that has to do with the trust and reputation we had built and not wanting to take away or cripple that in order to keep up with the latest trends...and of course it's arguable that this might have been as much to our detriment as to our advantage in certain communities (such as the Bodybuilding community). But we still keep a pulse on what's happening, what the latest ingredients, products and trends are - and of course, we are still affiliated with the IFBB and our company's roots are, and always will be, firmly in the Bodybuilding area.
For input and knowledge - I am working through some ideas on how best to do this and what would be most helpful for everyone here, and this is a perfect opportunity to throw it out to everyone - what would you like to see from us? Everyone here is in varying stages of training and have their own idea on the perfect diet/workout/supplementation program, so really it would be great to hear what type of information you'd be interested in and what would be most valuable to you!
Ritch - I will be back to answer your question very soon - some coffee and some things to take care of, and then I'll give a full run down on Krea-Genic!

Alright, the morning definitely got away from me, but on to Krea-Genic/double buffered creatine!
I'll assume that everyone has a basic knowledge of creatine monohydrate - what it does, how it works, etc. (if not, then I can definitely put some information on that up here too). One of the biggest drawbacks to Creatine Monohydrate powder is in its stability. It breaks down very easily into creatinine (the waste by-product of creatine), which has no benefit to the body/muscles - it's simply excreted. So for example, if you put creatine monohydrate into a drink/shake and leave it for a few hours, you'll get veyr minimal creatine benefits from that shake. Likewise in your body, creatine monohdyrate gets broken down in transport to your muscles - first from the gastric acid in your stomach, and then secondly during transport in the blood. (obviously not all of the creatine is broken down or no one would see any benefits - but around 33% is broken down to creatinine throughout the transport process to the muscles).
Several years ago, Kre-Alkalyn, and other single-buffered creatines that followed, were introduced. Basically the creatine molecules had an alkaline buffer that protected the creatine from the gastric acid in the stomach, and reduced the amount of creatine breakdown that occurred before the creatine reached the muscle.
Krea-Genic is a double buffered creatine. So what this means is that there are two buffers (ie. two protective 'shields') - the first buffer is sodium carbonate to protect the creatine from gastric acid breakdown in the stomach, and the second buffer is sodium bicarbonate to protect the creatine from breakdown in the blood. This not only ensures that the maximum amount of intact creatine reaches your muscles, but Krea-Genic was developed with sodium-based buffers (which is a natural absorption booster) for quicker absorption.
There's actually a good visual of this on main page of the Krea-Genic site, as well as some other useful information throughout the site that I may not have covered here. http://www.krea-genic.com/english/index.php
I hope that helped answer your question, and gives a good overview of what Krea-Genic is and why it's better than creatine monohydrate and single buffered creatine! Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or would like more information on anything I mentioned here!
And just a side note on all the great and detailed logs being done on the Krea-Genic - I haven't commented on any of them, and that's been on purpose. We wanted these reviews to be completely unbiased and untouched from us. We sent the volunteers the product, gave some general outlines of some information we'd like to see - just so everyone would have a consistent format of feedback - but other than that, we want it to be a clean review. So it's not lack of interest on our part, but a huge thank you to the reviewers, and I hope you'll all continue to give support and feedback to the reviews/logs!
