Don't know if Silly Joe is on the juice again but he's been talking that a Korean war is very likely.

If this is the case say bye byte America. It's a war they CAN NOT afford at this time. And imagine the Jihadis going ape shit again in Iraq? No way can they handle both wars. Add the Taliban doingtheir spring fling...

Not only can't afford it is a war they cannot and have no hope in hell of ever winning.

If it goes both sides will shoot their load (and will cause tons of damage) and then China will stop the North and USA will stop the South convincing both sides of another 50 year 'truce' (well, the first war never really ended) while Kim puts his son into power an dteh North declare it a 'great victory'.

I have a feeling both sides may go at it in a limited war a la Israel/Hezzbollah. Maybe 30-60 days to blow off some steam and kill...ohh say 100-250K people.

a war with north korea has got to be the scariest war ever, more than afghanistan, iraq, or iran. invading a nuclear armed country who isn't afraid to us it is freaken scary!

when the US goes to war, "winning" is seldom the goal.

and technically, the US hasn't been able to "afford" anything for 40 years, but that hasn't stopped them yet.

ww3 will begin with korea... when ever that happens.
It has been a major issue for 50 years and has only been kept off thew main stream lately due to the crazy people of the middle east

How do you say that? When has the USA been spending this much money? They are spending more on their "war on terror" than they ever have even in the "cold war". Iraq has been insanely expensive for the USA. Not to mention all the restrictions and bullshit is making commerce more diffiuclt. And at no time in history has one country (China) owned so much of USA debt.

I doubt this war will happen because China won't let it.

If the war happens China is going to see millions of Korean refugees streaming across its northern borders.
China would also see its $2 trillion reserves severely impaired as the US government runs the printing presses (more so) to finance this war in the same method of how every war has been paid or; inflation.

If the Koreas go to war, I don't think the refugees will be going north to China. There has been a steady stream south since the truce. If the balloon goes up Canada will be dragged in as well as other SEATO countries.

The conflict will be raging on the DMZ which is full of land mines. Lots of refugees peace out through China, but to get to South Korea they usually journey to Thailand.
The South Korean embassies in China are all under heavy guard and Thailand is the closest country that does not have armed guards. Lots of very good documentaries out there about the plight of North Koreans.
