Hey everyone, name's Kyle. I'm 18-years-old from Saskatoon.
I'm not a bodybuilder, at all, but I'm looking to get into shape!

I don't get too much exercise besides the occasional weight lifting/pushup/situp high school gym style workouts in my basement. I walk for 8.5 hours a day at my job, every day, so that provides me with some light exercise.

So here's my deal, I could use some advice on how to get into shape!

I'm about 5'9" or 5'10" and weigh about 160-165lbs, if I recall correctly.

My cardio isn't the greatest, besides the light walking all the time, as my asthma limits how much I can push myself before some health issues kick in and I drop.

So here I am, asking for advice on a workout/nutrition/supplement plan! Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I've put things off far to long and want to get serious about doing this!

Look forward to meeting everyone!

Oops, I think I started this in the wrong section! I'm sure a mod can move it to the proper Introductions forum!

Hi Kyle, welcome to CBB.

My suggestion is to get your dieting in check. Learn to eat properly with amounts to carbs/fats/proteins. The amount required will depend on your end goal. More muscle mass means more protein. Fatloss means more protein, controlled fat and less carbs and overall calories. Etc. Reading this forum will help you accomplish those goals.

Wanting to be in better shape means you will need to lift weights and be active. Of course with your asthma, you won't be training to run the Boston marathon but you can still do some cardio regularly. If you don't have the proper equipment at home, it would be time to look into joining a gym.

Well, I've started to begin my lifestyle changes ASAP due to some health scares involving my digestive system. Reading through the forums is a great help.

I've planned to start with more protein in my diet, a lot less unnecessary fat. I'm looking into gym memberships soon, and plan to start jogging this weekend. I'll be taking everything easy at first, and gradually work my way up.

For the last bit I've been reading Men's Health magazines and seeing some god recipes for low-fat, yet good meals, which is a plus since I'm into cooking, and I also plan to start my days with a healthy breakfast instead of none at all, perhaps some fruit, dairy and a protein shake?

Right now, my biggest questions are about supplements.

I've been seeing a lot of people here use Whey protein, is it good stuff? Recommended dose, anyone? I'm also looking into fat burners to mix in when I work out, again, I've been told that Muscletech Hardcore are the best around, but there's also that Hydroxycut stuff too. I was thinking of getting some Hydroxycut drink crystals to mix with water while I'm at work.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I know, I tend to post quite long replies!

Welcome to cbb.

Have egg whites for breakfast. Supplement with whey protein, especially after a workout. Creatine can come in after a while of training. Get some good multi vitamins. That's all you need for extra supplements.

Good advice
Use this site and stay away from mens health mag. I would not concern myself with fat burners or spending allot of dough on sups. Get help with your diet first and foremost and you will find with the added intake your metabolism will increase and you will not need the fat burners. Your progress in the first three months will be dramatic, if you have a good plan and remain consistent.
That is the key to this game, diligence tempered with the right amount of patience and hard work applied consistency = your goals
