Last Monday I started feeling sick... I ended up with the worst case of stomach flu ever... I have been in bed for the better part of a week... I could not eat anything and had fever over 103F! I have had Solmonela in the past and it was not this bad!!!

I was 230lbs last Monday morning before getting sick... I got on the scale this morning and I am 215lbs... it's been a brutal week!

I am going to try working out today for the 1st time since getting sick... wish me luck :mock

When I was a teen, I needed to make weight for a football try out and was not going to do it.... I was stressed out. Anyways, I got some horrible flu that lasted a week, like you describe, and I lost 10 pounds or so, went to weigh in sick as ****, made weight by 5 pounds, and kicked some major ass that year... poor ****ing kids. LOL

I have been eating and drinking since the weekend and the scale is not budging... I am even 'carbing up' and no body home!

It's like the fever messed up my metabolism... every time I eat now I burst into a sweat... we'll see what happens this week...

you were sick for a week, during that week you were probably barely eating, it will come back quickly no worries, just dont push yourself to much take your time.

I did not eat for 4 days straight... just water and some electrolyte drink... I can't remember ever going that long without food, it's not something I pan on repeating!!!

Coconut water is the champ for re-hydration, starch based food will be helpfull as well wait a little more before start pushing weight hard or you may end up in bed again.

Get well.

How did you end up getting rid of the problem?

oh man, it was one thing after another. after about 2 weeks living with it (come mid january) ended up getting hospitalized after i could no longer take down fluids. About two weeks into being hospitalized while i had liver specialists running around trying to figure out what was wrong, Costco called my parents and informed them of a recall notice on some peanut products i had purchased. The liver specialist at Vancouver general then did a tranjugular liver biopsy on me to get a sample which tested positive for aflatoxin poisining. I was put on a steroid called Methylprednisolone to try and stop the inflamation in my liver....which in turn caused me to contract Pancreatitus. so then came the morphine....etc
45 days later after being in hospital living off a feeding tube the symptoms just started to slowly clear up....the jaundice subsided, appetite slowly returned and nausea slowly got better. It took me a good 4 months to deal with it though and 40 lbs later....never want anyone to go through what i did.

Holy shit man that is brutal, You could have died! Have you spoke to a lawyer? You must be entitled to some sort of componsation from the manufacturer of the produt or Costco. WOW that is just frickin brutal, I bet you are leary of peanut products now eh!

What caused the aflatoxin poisoning, was it the peanuts? Did the Methylprednisolone cause the Pancreatitis? My old man contracted Pancreatitis as a result of other medical complications while he was in the hospital getting some simple tests done... the Pancreatitis ended up killing him a couple months later... he was in his mid 80's so Pancreatitis is much more serious than for someone younger and in good health... it's still no joke!

Glad to hear you are back on track... makes my week in bed look not so bad :)

Well after being on the Methylprednisonlone for about a week my liver enzymes(ALt) plummitted from 6000 to about 800 and my bilrubin was lowering...i actually felt a bit better and could eat a bit. So they actually released me from hospital after 20 days. However, when i got home back staying with my parents the pancreatitus hit me that evening infact and i was rushed back to hospital....let me tell you, it is the most painful thing ever...my lipase was through the roof and i could not stand up , i was forced to lay on my side for about a week straight and just pumping morphine into me like no tommorow. They 100% attributed the pancreatitus to the steroid. The liver surgeon told me that pancreatitus is basically the second most painful thing to go through besides pancreatic cancer.

Currently, with help from the liver specialists at VGH and a good lawyer im currently in the process of a joint law suit w/ a few American groups involving the American Peanut COrp. and the company involved in the manufacturing of the product sold ( i wont name the product). Costco is not liable as they have good liability protection in these cases.

And ya, the aflatoxin poisining was caused by moldy peanuts. Basically it is very rare, especially in developed countries, but there have been documented cases in the past that reflect what i went through as far as the effects on the liver...it is quite similar to a bad bout of Hepatitus except much more fatal.

Crazy story!!! How old are you? Are you considered cured now, are there any lingering side effects?

Im 23. Doing ALt, Ast, Bilrubin blood tests 1x/week until October. My liver specialist thinks i will return to normal levels (right now im at 80-100 liver enzyme, and bilrubin is within rage).....there is no scare tissue or damage to the liver as it can regenerate. Only worry that we have is there have been proven corelation bw aflatoxin poisining and liver cancer in the future.
Gives me a great reason to stay away from alcohol and drugs though.

Assuming you've cycled before, were you upfront about it with your doctors? Obviously AAS had nothing to do with the ordeal, but I'm just curious whether the liver specialists or other specialists said anything about AAS in general..

well when i first went into the dr's to get bloodwork...they assumed b/c of my size and age it was either drugs or alcohol related. i was clear that i had used oral prohormones steadily between 2003-2005ish but nothing since. I also was clear that i did not drink.
Because the liver enzymes were spiked so high(6000+) it was obvious it was not due to chronic drug or alcohol use...the inflamation alone and where it was located (originating close to the hepatic artery and portal vein) basically ensured it was toxic poisining
