View Full Version : Staying motivated while off

I notice a lot of guys talking about finding motivation when they are off cycle etc. I find it tougher to keep working as hard when a cycle ends.
I find it motivated me to know that if i slack off, i lose a lot of it fast. Working extra hard to get through PCT and recovery can be challenging but its important. Nutrition, training and rest should be spot on. I dont bridge or cycle closely together. For those that do, this is not so much an issue.
Chime in if you have some input on how to keep it going through the post cycle

It has been a long time since i cycled ! I used way to much gear at a young age and it hurt me mentally and physically.
Coming of any drug can be hard they play huge roles on our minds and bodies.
I did my first cycle at 19 T/cyp 600mg and Eq at 400mg 40mg D/BOL a week for 16 weeks no one told me about pct's or that i should stop the bal after 4 weeks
My come down was a killer. I got sick depressed, i wouldn't train life sucked in general and as a bonus i found i had new tit-ties :laugh
Prep yourself for the off time. Eat train rest realize you will not be as strong and you will loose a little size, strength, energy and motivation.
I feel for you!! Off time is when we all have to focus and man up the most.
Follow the rules keep your head up don't let it get you down and press on till the next time you pinnnn !!!
Remember only you can control how you feel and how you eat and train
You run the gear don't let it run you
Best
Good luck bro

Change your goals to something different and believe in them. For instance..instead of aiming to lift heavier convince your mind and body it's time to focus on strict form for 7 reps max, or change your routine entirely so you don't feel as though you're losing strength - you just changed things up.
Look at your weight loss during PCT as progress towards the ultimate goal. Mind over matter my man!

Absolutely! This is exactly what I did after my cycle... I was losing strength, size, motivation.... felt depressed, etc (didn't help that I got sick and couldn't work out for a month!). So I changed my focus. Instead of concentrating on size only, I adjusted my workout to increase strength (better form, lower weights to start). I stopped taking creatine to lose the rest of the bloat and introduced cardio to lose the remaining fat from my bulk and started to cut.
My strength is steadily rising again, and it feels good to know it's not from the creatine, but my own strength. The increase in size I've noticed is also pure muscle gain, not bloat from the creatine as well, so all in all it's been a good recovery.
I am still drinking NO Shotgun though before my workouts, that shits tha bomb. Couldn't do a workout without it!

A stimulant and creatine helps.
The way I see it is that you are kinda fighting for your "life" lol.
Your body has packed on all that muscle tht he doesn't want to keep... so thinking about the fact that slacking off is going to result in me losing more then I will anyways is all the motivation that I need.
The first week is rough but after that...just keep pounding away reminding yourself that this is the worst time ever to be lazy.

Train hard when on, trainHARDER when off.

3 Steps to Keep Motivated Post-PCT:
1. keep training, or lose it (triumph of the will)
2. hGH helps retain the muscle off-cycle & knowing you're paying for it is motivation enough to keep training
3. planning your next cycle (in detail) during workouts while off helps too!

Great advice. I just wish I could afford hgh lol.
i use stimulants like ECA or ritalin for heavy lift days, and listen to really pissed off music when off
Make sure your diet is clean. Don't expect to be able to train as intense but keep at it. Whats to point of doing a cycle just to quit afterwards and loose it all.

I train lighter when off, but up the cardio, for some reason my cardio is better when off than when on, so it is encouraging to at least succeed better in one way, and it feels good to go to the gym and get a good sweat going every day on the cardio, I can do that 6 or 7 days a week to at least keep the habit of the routine going even though if I try to go 6 days a week of lifting hard I start to get run down too much when off.

If I'm coming off a bulk cycle, I do the opposite, I try to keep my strength maintained by lifting heavy but reducing my volume, I always do moderate cardio all the time, so that doesn't change, the only thing that changes is the reduction in training volume, not going to failure all the time, and a bit of a cleaner diet. Other then that everything stays the same.

ditto for me......plus i take detoxes etc, stay eating clean as i want my bloodwork to be spot on when i take it, and taking fishoils etc. and just trying to do as much good as possible to my body and keep tabs on my body rhythms to be sure im not going to hard etc...
good thread...

Made it thru the slump after PCT, and starting to feel the pull again... actually wanting to go to the gym, and lifts are going up again. The only thing left over from my cycle now is fuken ACNE dammit.... oh yea, and the knowledge that i can lift more than i ever could lol... ill get there again naturally tho!
