Hey guys, Ive been tracking my calories for a long time now. Been slowly increasing calories when my weight stalls. But each bump has been relatively small as Im attempting a lean bulk. Im 165lbs and Ive started to loose weight. Something just doesnt seem right here... Any ideas?

More details Link, like your activity levels, including activity at work and play. Is this the first time you have cleaned up your diet and started eating this way?
Post your daily intake.
Have you always been lean?
What kind of supplements are u taking?
Age
When u list some/all of these details people will be able to give u better guidance.

Activity level is fairly high. Workout 5 times a week, I do landscaping but sometimes its strenuous sometimes not.

Ive watched my diet for just under a year now, following a certain set of macros.
Right now Im eating 100g fat, 450g carbs, 250g pro.

Ive always been fairly lean but in a skinny fat kinda way.

Supplements just fish oil, zma, whey (usually just in the morning), and creatine.

And finally Im 22

post up your diet, maybe you're overcalculating the calories.

My diet changes on a daily basis, as long as I hit my macros it doesnt matter what I eat. I got this way from working with a natty pro who helped me get my diet on track. I was thinking about going back but just thought Id get some advise here first.

Do you have a fast/high metabolism? I have a buddy who absolutely cannot gain weight for the life of him, and he has a very fast metabolism.

hmmm., 22, high level of activity between work and gym. With the little you are giving us I would venture a guess to add another meal in. If you are currently very lean you may want to consider making that meal a restaurant meal. More details with what u are consuming to make up your macros. i.e. if you are eating alot of fiberous carbs to hit your numbers on carbs, you may be undershooting your carb target. If you are eating all tofu, beans and whey for protein....
Give us more to work with dude, even a pic would help everyone give better guidance.

Yea um for my pro sources its usually chicken, tuna, extra lean ground beef, cheese, shrimp. But mostly its chicken that I eat. For carbs, usually whole wheat bread, calrose rice, milk, perogies (Im addicted to these things), oatmeal, apple juice (probably should stop drinking this but again I love it lol), for my fats usually EVOO, and cheese again.

Heres a picture about a month ago, same weight 164

I call Bull Shit, if you cant lose or gain weight you are either not trying hard enough, doing something wrong, or should go to the doc because you have a gland problem. jm2c

For example, I am fat because I am lazy and unmotivated....

Im eating 3800 calories per day. Which now seems to be my maintenance level at my weight. Obviously I would increase that to gain weight. Read the thread, I never said I was in attempts to gain or loose weight. So no need to be a dick, I was just looking for advice as 3800 calories for maintenance at 165lbs and for my activity level seems high. Dont have any ideas then gtfo?

One possible idea is that you're not counting calories correctly. YOu ignored my suggestion though. Post up your diet. Mine changes daily too but I can still post one.

I didnt ignore it, I just said it changes daily but on a typical day its...

meal 1
1/3cup oatmeal dry (2g fat, 30g carb, 4g pro, 150 cal)
2scoop whey (4g fat, 8g carb, 46g pro, 260 cal)
1cup apple juice (mixed in with oatmeal) (0g fat, 27g carb, 0g pro, 110 cal)
meal 2
3 danone yogurt cups (4.5g fat, 48g carb, 12g pro, 270 cal)
1 cup chocolate milk (2.5g fat, 27g carb, 7g pro, 150 cal)
meal 3
7oz chicken (7g fat, 0g carb, 60g pro, 321 cal)
200g Calrose rice cooked (0.5g fat, 56g carb, 5g pro, 258 cal)
meal 4
2 slices bread (2.5g fat, 35.0g carb, 6.0g pro,190 cal)
1 can tuna (2.5g fat, 0g carb, 26g pro, 121 cal)
2 tbsp mayo (21g fat, 1g carb, 0g pro, 198 cal)
225g rice cooked (0.6g fat, 63g carb, 6g pro, 290 cal)
1 danone yogurt cup (1.5g fat, 16g carb, 4g pro, 90 cal)
meal 5
8 perogies (2g fat, 76g carb, 14g pro, 380 cal)
2 cup chocolate milk (5g fat, 54g carb, 14g pro, 300 cal)
2 scoop whey ( 4g fat, 8g carb, 46g pro, 260 cal)
3 tbsp oo (40.5g fat, 0g carb, 0g pro, 358 cal)
1 slice of bread (1.2g fat, 17.5g carb, 3g pro, 95 cal)

101g fat 463g carb 247.5g pro 3,755 cal

Now just looking at this myself, something I havent really done, my fats need to be spread out more. as well as my protein I think. My workouts between meals 4 and 5. And the person I was working with got me to do 15% carbs breakfast 30% pre/post workout. That was for today. And Im about to hit the sack in a little while and my macros for today were hit.

Thats a brutal diet bro, really no offense but if you want to add some muscle mass and stay lean or look good you totally need to redo you meals thats what a highschool kid would eat.

1/3c oats is 20g carbs BTW.

While I appreciate your taking the whole diet thing seriously, you seem to really be overthinking this...

Judging by your pic, you dont have a tremendous amount of muscle mass... I think you should stop worrying about counting your calories and start eating like you want to gain weight... throw some junk in there, build up your mass and then bring it back down...

You seem to have to diet thing mastered, so it should be no problem shaving off some extra weight afterward...

1.

go see a doctor get all your blood work done, make sure you are healthy first. Dont be afraid, those guys are here to help us.

2.

You eat more than I do and Im a little over 180, I would probably get fat on your diet lol.

3. and Finally,

My suggestion to you is if you want to gain muscle eat more fat, take in 2x that amount and cut your carbs down to about half. Also throw the whey over your shoulders and instead eat canned tuna and lean ground beef to substitute the protein source, you can use it pre or postworkout sure thats good but in my opinion the whey dosent stick to your ribs lke real food and therefore you cannot use it as well.

Do you measure food? I've met plenty of guys that think they are eating sooo much and just estimate when they track calories... I measure everything I eat and I've NEVER had any issues gaining or losing weight.

Oh and one more thing, I agree with BDH and the other guys. Stop worrying about counting calories, for example eating 500 calories from uncle bens rice is a lot different than eating 500 calories from a cheeseburger, Yes a calorie is the a calorie, but is it going to digest the same in your stomache? of course not, for you I suggest the cheese burger for an overweight person I suggest the rice do you know what Im saying?

And a 1\3 of a cup of oatmeal is nothing, eat a full cup and chase it down with a couple of raw eggs....... yolks IN! haha, its the breakfast of champions, dorian said so :friday peace be with you

So much of that diet you posted is liquid. Get some more solid food in you. Why so much yogurt? Try some cottage cheese too. Also, where the hell are your eggs? and beef? The only solid proteins I saw in your whole day was 1 chicken breast and a can of tuna. 1/3 cup of oats? Just have a full cup. It's breakfast, don't worry about it. Also, where the hell are your nuts? Almonds, walnuts, I don't see anything.
