Yes, I'm competing there August 22. I know the meeting is on the Friday from 1-5 at host hotel but not much more info posted on CBBF site. First time for me. Anybody have experience with Nationals?

Word. Nationals isn't really different from other shows you've competed in. Just a bit bigger and more attention.

Cool. Just curious...and I'm going there to win (like everyone else!)

Nonetheless, just wondering what others know about it. I know the date and the venue and the host hotel. But go with the flow is the way to go. Thanks!

"August 22, 2009

Tickets will go on sale on April 1/09. They can be purchased through the PANTHEON ATHLETIC CLUB. Evening show $80.00 - Morning show $45.00.

Note to Wheelchair athletes - please contact promoter (Kosta) in advance if interested in attending. "

we were at the Nationals Last year in Montreal. I think your first year you have to look at it as an experience... then you take that experience and make it work for you the next year. we learned alot last year... like for example, do not asume there will be somewhere to heat your food the morning of the show! lol... (glug glug drinking raw egg whites... eewwww)

I googled the venue and the hotel, they are aprox 15 minute car ride from each other... but weigh in is at the hotel... so make sure you have a way to the venue and that you are tanned or have someone to tan you, as there isnt really anywhere to do it backstage!

hope that helped

Yes its a small venue to be holding the Nationals...in terms of backstage anyways. There's hardly any room backstage at local level never mind Nationals...assuming there will be quite a few competitors.

But it should be fun and a good show.

I'll try to get one up soon...my wife is outta town, but perhaps I can get one of the gals at the gym to take one.

You competing?

I'll either be in the lightweights or the welters. I was a welter when I qulified last year. My weight is all over the place right now but I'm just about as lean as Provincials last year. Albertas are tonight so we'll soon see what happens there.

Man I;m hungry!

Cheers!

Dryvrgrl,

Hey thanks! I heard from a few friends that the Montreal experience wasn't great for them. The Alberta shows I have done have all been good. Other than pumpup rooms/space issues from time to time they've all been positive experiences.

Where you from in Manitoba? I'm originally from northern Manitoba and went to Brandon University...played hockey, etc. Married a Saskatchewan girl and have been in ALberta for 16 years...still go back once in a while, but more often to Winnipeg.

Cheers!

PS I'm really hungry!

Im from Winnipeg... My partner is competing in BC, she's a lightweight (won the overall this year at provincials)
Brandon is sending at least 3 or 4 of chicks to Nationals but all figures/fitness gals.

Ever compete with my buddy Dan Rodgers?

mo_sco

Cool. I have some good friends in the 'Peg...try to get back every year when I can...although I haven't found a fave gym there yet.

Can't say I've met Dan Rodgers before...but I'm usually pretty unaware at contest time!

Best of luck to your partner. It seems to me the women have to work even harder than the men to get in top shape so I give them all the props!

Who else is going??... anyone? I'd totally like to meet anyone out there...
I know a few of the Heavy Weight women who are planning on making the trip this year (I have an incomplete list), but really don't know any of the guys heading out...
I'll be there supporting Ms Manitoba, Leigh Mollison (lightweight women) but can TOTALLY cheer for anyone who wants the support...

Well, I'll (2nd middleweight Alberta's...but I'll be a lightweight this year) be pretty alone up there...I only brought my wife, kids and mom (which is more than I've ever had for support). Hope to be able to say "hi" to you if we meet up in the display area. We all appreciate the fans' and fellow competitors' support when we're up there. Thanks for looking out for your fellow athletes!

As of last week theatre was about 40% sold for prejudging, 50% for the show, with good seats on side aisles. There's an advance saving on the Sunday D J seminar for advance buys, $15 instead of $20

Didn't know about the Dennis James seminar when I planned all this out and I am leaving back for Alberta the next morning so i can get back for work...sucks because I'm sure it would be worth it!

Well, if nobody else is going I should easily win my class! LOL

2 weeks a few days out...with visions of pizza in my head. With Provincials last year I have been dieting for over a year now. I'm ready to be done! :)

The seminar will be at the Pantheon gym on Hornby Street, limited number of places available (about 50), so advance booking might be a good idea.
$15 instead of $20 if you've bought a show ticket.
