Hey Guys,

Quick question. My goal is to cut body fat and maintain or possible increase muscle mass while on a calorie deficit (around 1800-2100 cals). 85% protein, 10% carbs, and 5% fat.

Stats:
5'8
190lbs
19% BF.

I used be 230-235 lbs about a yr ago, and shed some mad fat and muscle mass by doing cardio, lifting weights and dieting on a calorie deficit.

I know my body fat is high to be on the juice but I felt i was ready to hop on it.

Currently, I am on a test prop (100mg EOD), anavar (50mg ED), clen cycle (2 weeks on 2 weeks off). I can already notice strength gains and a general sense of well being, its been only one week.

Do you guys think i can still up my calories and still manage to shed fat? I am working out 6 days a week. I lift weights 4 days a week with cardio (30mins). The other two days I do about 45min-1hr cardio.

Do you think I am overtraining for the amount of calorie intake? My intention was that the more muscle mass I gain the more calories my body will burn.

Look forward to hearing your comments.

For one its is impossible to increase muscle mass while in a calorie deficit. The harder you train and do cardio etc the more your body will demand and 1800-2000 calories isnt much at all, you'll lose fat sure, and muscle.

I'd look more into cycling your carbs and calories. This should keep up your metabolism and continue to lose weight and maintain muscle.

Right now I have been doing a carb up on the weekends. On the weekdays diet is very strict with minimal carbs.

Do you think I should carb up more often?

I stopped reading your post when it said 85% protein 10%carbs and 5% fat.

The problem you have at this point is you are skinny fat. If you go on a starvation diet you will burn off what little muscle you have left then at best you will be skinnier and skinny but you will probably then rebound and have even more fat and less muscle in a year.

I will recommend what I usually recommend at this point. Spend the next 8 months to 1 year following the starting strength program. If you are diligent you can add 30 pounds of muscle and maybe 10-15 pounds of fat leaving you at about the same bodyfat percentage but with enough muscle that when you diet down with a keto diet you will have enough muscle to carry it through. The aas will definitely help you hold onto the muscle when you diet down.

You can either build muscle or lose fat NOT both. Choose one and get on a correct program to allow you to achieve your goal.

I understand what you are trying to say, but would carb cycling help at all. I know it will slow down the fat loss but would it help maintain the muscle? Since I am already on the cycle what would you recommend in terms of diet? Keep it at equilibrium?

P, well my main goal is to lose fat. But is it still possible to lose the body fat and maintain whatever muscle I have?

I`m not trying to answer for Master P, but I`d say most likely yes. Put it this way, you`ll hold onto alot more muscle on gear than if you`re not. But still man, pick a diet and stick to it. The plan you have now looking bad! Most here would say do a keto diet, plenty of examples on this site telling you how it`s done.

Sounds good Ritch. I really value everyone's input on this. I will read up on the Keto Diet and examples on this website.

Cool, plus you got a good cycle going, it should work out very well. Can I just ask you what or who told you to do the diet you originally outlined, lol...

Read what Praetorian wrote carefully. There's a lot in those short sentences.

Actually, this was the same diet i used to lose the initial 40 lbs of my weight. So i decided that it would be okay to stick to it and be able to diminish the muscle loss on the cycle.

I've already started reading on the keto diet.
