Which AAS cause high blood pressure the most? I know they all can contribute but I had my highest readings a couple years ago while on Test e & Tren e. Now I'm on Test prop & Mast EOD (plenty) to kickstart (week three) my planned 16-weeker on Test e (800mg/wk) & EQ (600mg/wk). Will drop the Test prop & Mast next week. But the pharmacy machine just gave me a reading of 160 systolic, 104 diastolic, with a pulse of 104:shock. Very high all round, but it's right after my workout and I pumped myself full of caffeine & ephedrine before the workout for motivation. Scary, but I don't want to drop this cycle! (I'll check later when the caffeine & ephedrine wear off.)

i find that the higher the androgen value and the more water you hold the higher the BP. Thats pretty high BP. Id watch it. I took bp med when mine got too high.

Don't worry. I think mine tested out at 140/100 with a pulse of 104 shortly after a workout, then 2 weeks later it was 120/73 with a pulse of 64. If it was right after your workout I'm sure that threw your stats off.

Those pharmacy machines a notoriously unreliable if your arm is much over 14inch (I'm assuming that it is). Get a home monitor...everyone should have one IMO. Check it regularly...at least once a day for a week of so to get an average. If it averages high (160/104 is very high) take immediate action to lower it. Maintaining high bp is probably the single worst thing you can do to your health and is the most dangerous side effect of AAS. Don't take it lightly.

by the time you get out of the gym and to the pharm and check, it should be close to normal......did you take more than 1 reading? my bp usually reads low after a workout.....

That's what I may have to look at. I have been tired & short of air since beginning this cycle and thought it was because I have been off GH for the first time in years. Now it seems it's my BP. Damned, maybe I'm not as indestructible as I thought I was:mad:.

Thanks for all the good advice, my bruvvahs (except I think I'll skip the herbs for the time being).

DRUMMER, what kind of medication did your doc give you? Were you able to stop using it after a while? (Someone told me BP meds can be as bad as the high BP itself, but I don't believe everything I hear.) My doc knows I have cycled in the past, but I'll have to lie this time since I'm on his Test gel prescription right now. He should give me a BP med if my blood pressure remains this high, I think

My plan is to stop using ephedrine and excess caffeine and to cut short the Test p/Mast kick-start. Cardio has been especially hard this time round & high blood pressure could be the reason why. Otherwise, Test e & EQ should be a pretty safe cycle. I eat tons of red meat but could switch to fish, if necessary. (My cholesterol was okay on last check.) I'll check the BP every day, and maybe even look into getting my own home monitor, as Da Bomb suggests.

I admit this is kind of scary, but I won't drop my cycle entirely unless the BP continues way up there in the danger zone. Hope not, though:D.

Yeah, ephedrine (even pseudophed) is known to raise BP, but only temporarily. I'll see in the days to come if it improves.

Might need to see a doc, I don't know.

Amazing. My dangerously high blood pressure was partly real but temporary, brought on by large doses of ephedrine, and partially exaggerated due to the arm size deficiency in pharmacies. Just got back from my doctor whose nurse found my systolic BP to be 134, which is normal for any one on cycle, I'd say. I was still laughing with relief when the doc himself came in.:D:D

Okay, back to de ****ing gym!

I do have to say something here but only because I feel it's very important. High blood pressure or hypertension is nothing to fool around with. This is called the silent killer for a reason. Using AAS we need to stay on top of these things and get it checked regularly. Seriously guys I was put in the hospital 2 years ago because of this.
Here is a quick story from a guy I know.

" thought that I would share this with you all so hopefully you can avoid what has happened to me.

High blood pressure is often called the “silent killer” because often it displays no symptoms and can lead to stroke and heart disease.

First, a little background info on myself. I am 44, 5’10”, 225 lbs. Approx. 12 –14 % bf.
Have being training for 12 yrs, last 4 very serious. Have done 2 cycles, last on consisting was;

Wk 1 – 3, 100 mg Testolents EOD
Wk 1-9, 300 mg Organon Deca
Wk 1-10, 558 mg Testoviron Depot
Wk 7 -12, 50 mg Zambon winny every 36 hours
1 mg armidex EOD

About half way through this cycle, I started getting short of breath & noticed a slight tightening in my chest. No big deal I thought, maybe just bordering on over training.

Two weeks after above cycle ended, shortness of breath was pretty well gone, but the tightening sensation in my chest was a little more pronounced, so I made a visit to the Medi Centre to get things checked. My bp was 170/100. He sent me for chest x-rays and an ECG that day, as well as starting me on bp meds. The results took about a week to come back, x-ray was ok. ECG was abnormal. Bp now was 160/110. An appointment was scheduled with a Internal Med Specialist to get a stress test done as well as he started me on a beta-blocker.

To make a long story short, I had a nuclear stress test done that showed that my left ventricle was enlarged. The specialist figures that the high bp , combined with heavy lifting (increases bp too) caused this. Steroids never entered into the conversation at all. Basically in laymen’s terms this means at present my heart is only working at 66% efficiency.

He also told me that if we keep my bp under control, start some cardio and ease up on the weights, that my heart should return to normal. But the more that this enlargement happens, the weaker the heart muscle becomes, eventually leading to congestive heart failure.

I guess the moral of this story is, it is very, very important to monitor your blood pressure, whether on cycle or not. They don’t call it the “silent killer” for nothing.
I would highly recommend that everyone invest in a bp machine and religiously monitor their bp. I just got a top of the line model and it only cost $110 Cdn, a very small price to pay as compared to one’s life.

BTW, I have never had high bp before and I don’t blame steroids, this could have happened without ever touching AAS, which makes checking your bp whether on cycle or not very important.

Use the right cuff
A very important factor often overlooked by doctors is the size of the blood pressure cuff used. The cuff should be snug, but not tight. A cuff that is too small can produce a very high blood pressure reading when the actual blood pressure is normal or even below normal.

Standard-sized cuffs cannot be used with an upper arm circumference of over 16 inches. Larger cuffs, designed for use on the leg of an average size person, should be readily available and can be used on the larger arm. If a large cuff isn't available, or if the arm is too large for a thigh cuff, blood pressure can be measured by placing the cuff over the forearm, rather than the upper arm, and listening to the pulse at the wrist. Another option is to purchase a large size cuff and bring it to the doctor's office.

Good to hear brother, I'm glad everything is ok, maybe time to take a break from the ephedrine for now, especially if your feeling winded in the cardio workouts, it's funny how we get ourselves worked up about shit like this and usually it turns out to be nothing, but we should always follow our gut felling!!
