Hey everyone , my mom has a prescription for Insulin when she was pregnant and she still has 3 vials of 3ml each of NovoRapid Penfill 3ml Cartridge... She has all the stuff , the monitor, the syringes , the insulin pen and all. But the Insulin expiry date was like in september 2008, but she told if it is kept in the refrigerator the doctor told her it was good until july 2009... is that true?

"Injectible insulin is less forgiving with expiration dates due to the issues of crystallization and degradation. Expiration dates are not pulled out of a hat and in the case of crystallization and degradation, disregarding said expiry dates could result not only in insulin’s loss of potency, but also in fatal harm, since degradants usually turn into toxic materials after expiring."

I wouldn't risk it

insulin is not that expensive and is not hard to get. I agree why risk expired product when you can aquire current over the counter.

yep, I get mine at the local drug store, it's dirt cheap. Don't risk taking an expired product trying to save a few dollars.
