View Full Version : Tips On Eating Post Comp..

Hey Guys, I have my very first Comp commin up in just under 3 weeks, So as you would know I am gettin pretty anxious. Anyways.. Just wondering for those of you who have competed before, how do you go about eating.. and bring satisfied diectectly after your comp without getting sick and bloated. I have so many friends comming to watch, then going out to celebrate after, I dont want to let anyone down by eating myself sick, and not being able to make it out!
Weird question I know.. but I just had so many cravings I feel I could eat everything in sight!

I am doing my regular refeed after the competition, probably around 200 grams or so of carbs in my meal, then do another 1 a few hours later...Im actually going to continue on my carb-cycling for the whole summer, day after contest probably do a 900 gram carb day, then back down to 150 or so and fats and proteins in enough volume to grow baby, grow......Clean all week, load up on the wknds ...i wouldnt go to nutz on my first meal....Im pretty used to low to almost no carbs, then junking out on the saturday or sunday, so it will be another day at the office...
Im going to gain back some lbs and take it from there..

I hope I can stay on track too.. there are just soooooooo many things i crave and want to eat.. i need to get that all out of my system before i go back to "dieting"
I am a little worried about drinking.. all my friends want me to get Bombed after the show but I will be so depleated and de hydrated it may not be the smartest idea. Maybe just a few drinks...

Just don't go crazy and pig out!! You will regret it when your holding 20 or 30 lbs of water and you feel like a walking heart attack!
Everything in moderation. Your body will be like a sponge once you start feeding it again.

I don`t know about the alchohol. My gut says it`s a bad idea. I`m sure some of the vets will give their view on that, but drinking when dehydrated, underfed and tired dosen`t seem like a good idea. Hell, I`ve had a beer after working a night (doorman) when I haven`t eaten 4 hours, I`m very well hydrated however and feel intoxicated from that one beer. But then again I never drink.

No booze......Im a non-drinker all the time, but most definitely wont be the first thing i would put in my body.......I personally dont know anyone that has craved getting loaded when done....But i dont know everyone...lol...

After my last show I drank 1.5 litres of gatorade went home to shower the dream tan off and my abs had already dissapeared (all water retention) I ate everything in sight for two weeks gained 35 pounds and never felt worse in my life. The night of the show I went for dinner but couldn't bring myself to drink I felt so awful. I'll never do it that way again!

I have it all planned out. I want to go to Montana's for a Burger and fries. I will drink diet cola, and finish off with the mile high mud pie. Then it's back to the diet the next day as my intention is to do the Provincials the following weekend if I do well in the Southerns. My trainer said this would be fine.

chocolate chip cookies with peanut butter... lol. Saw Freeman do it. I'm not actually suggesting this though, as he was only doing that between posing routine and posedowns.

Directly after my show I down a bottle of gatoraide and water. Shower then we go out for eats and some drinks.
Eats are whatever I feel like eating - usually ribs or a burger or pizza. Depends on where we are along with some ceasar's or something light alcoholic if I feel like drinking at all.
Next morning I go out for breakfast and during the day continue to eat whatever I feel like but come Monday I try to get back on the contest diet and doing moderate cardio to keep water down as much as possible. I don't deprive myself if I feel like having a cookie or donut of eating whatever but I try to keep it in check as much as possible.
As someone else said, moderation BUT don't deprive yourself either.
Anyone who loses abs after drinking a bottle of gatoraide I question how conditioned they were to begin with.

I thought I could do that the night of my first show as well. We ordered pizza to the hotel room and began pounding coolers because they looked/tasted so damn good after being so dehydrated, then we all went to the bar and I was literally pounding back Dbl malibu and pineapples, after about 4 in 10 minutes I went to the can a puked then took a cab back to the hotel. The following 4 days I ate like a pig, put on 37lbs and felt like shit. Lesson learned!
Just take it easy after, go for some food after but dont gorge. Have a few bevies you'll be fine. The next day eat some things you been craving in moderation but try to stick to the diet somewhat. Take a few days off the gym then hit it hard and enjoy the rebound.

Thanks Guys.. I am really worried that I may binge eat. This contest prep has been VERY difficult for me and my cravigns are through the roof. There are so many things that I want to eat.. but you are right.. I will keep everything in moderation. It will be nice to remember what its like to actually feel FULL and Satisfied again!
I will keep the booze to a min. Maybe 2 or 3 drinks..

Don't have a jar of Nuttella in the house. I would have spread it on chicken if that was all I had.
I made some bad mistakes and ate to much salty foods after Provincials. My feet swelled up and I couldn't walk by the Wed after.

It has been said over and over here already about moderation, so I won't beat that issue. I think you will find booze not to be as interesting as you think after the show. The next 90 days after a show can provide you with huge gains in either fat or muscle, you decide with what you put in. What I found helpful is to plan what I wanted/craved and prepare this food for after the show. I would have back stage goddies raey to go as soon as i was done, and then i would go out for a nice big meal. For me I found many small meals worked best. Good luck with the show and have fun!!

I also usually shitload the night before the show so by the time it's over I have already gotten my junk food fix and dont even want to go near it afterwards, lol.
