I have been taking these cheap, no-name brand multi vitamin and minerals for a couple months now...they cost me like 8 bucks for a can that will last me almost all year.
will it make much if at all any difference to buy high quality multi vitamins? say for double the price, some gnc brand or Animal that may last a couple months at best? is it worth it? I hope im not wasting my time with these crappy multi-vits!!
hope someone can help :D

I've heard that if you take a compressed tablet (ie. horse pill) then you may not assimilate all of it, since it's so densely packed and will not completely break down before passing through for digestion. Some other multi's may offer you some better form of assimilation through a better delivery process. Maybe a gel cap? maybe something in it to help with digestion? maybe some kind of rapid release? I believe Animal gives you a packet to take, which would be better. If you have multiple tabs/caps instead of one giant compressed tab, you'd likely get better absorption. There used to be a site you could go to which would offer ratings on quality and absorption but I can't remember it...might be worth taking a look though.
A great vitamin is the Weider pack at walmart just like the animal pack but only 18.00 for 30 day supply.
Another great vitamin is the Swiss "50",or swiss "80".Even Quest multi is good.

I have been told by a naturopath that vitamins should always be taken with food and capsules are far superior to tabs. Both of these reasons had to do with absorption rates.

I'll second the Progressive active men vitamins. I've used them everyday for a couple years. A daily serving is 3 caps, one with each meal but I take 1 to 3 based on how my diet is on that specific day.
Right now they have a 150 cap bonus size as well.

Wouldn`t take multi`s personally because the forms of magnesium and zinc are not the superior chelated forms. Plus you want to take those before bed. Vit E is best is gel caps. And you want to take gram doses of vit c 3x`s a day. No multi fits this order. With a multi you get a little of everything but nothing specific enough to merit their use for a bodybuilder. For mr and mrs everybody who`s looking for a little something to be in better health, I`d say it`s o.k.

ON has a vitamin out also, its a cap taken a couple times a day. its made for the sport and a little easier than the multi packs, escpecially if you plan on taking the recommended dose of 2 packs daily (animal).

It's a rather disgusting solution but if you took your horse pill and crushed it, then downed it with some liquid during a meal, it might be more effective. Only problem is that it will taste absolutely horrible even if you down it quickly (even with flavoured liquid).

Cheap multivitamins are a waste of money. You would be lucky to absorb 2-3% of them. Centra brand to name one is horrible. Stay away from anything sold your local drugstore...go to a health food store or online and get a good quality multi in a capsule not tabs. Flora is a good brand, Metagenics is another.

GNC Mega Man Sport is really good man. It's a little hard on the wallet, but it's really good.
