do you want a shade tree or privacy? For shade I'd go with maple, for privacy I'd go with cedar.

home depot had a bunch of 6 foot cedars on for 15 bucks last weekend, not too sure how tall they get but for that price you really can't go wrong.

Ya..I know a manager that works there in my home town. the reason they were $15.00 each is because they were picked through already.

I have 2 nice maples in my Back Yard, really good for shade and privacy, I have My barbQ and Patio furniture and a hammok under them. They make a mess in the fall but I really dont mind. I have cedars on one side and they are high maintinance and full of bees, I was thinking about cutting them down and building a fence. Maple all the way for this guy.

Plant fruit trees. You get something in return. Cherries, peach, apples, prunes, etc.

Some fruits you'll have to protect. I have squirrels in love with my peaches and a strange breed of birds that scout out my cherry tree until the cherries are ripe. They cleaned it out in one morning a few years back. Now I know to put a net around it when it's almost time to start eating the cherries. The pears are so so. Peaches and plums are good. Apples very good.

Fruit trees are High maintenance, I had a cherry tree and Unless I spent $$$$ on spraying it and netting it like spifire said it was ****ed, ate a worm filled cherry once, lol I cut it down and made a fire pit where the root ball was. I love my Maple trees, they are beautifull!

It is cheaper and easier to buy the syrup than produce it. Not sure about TVG sperm. Maybe Mr. O can chime in.
