Got Kicked Out of The Gym Today

So I can no longer go back to the gym I worked at for over 3 years. Memberships are really expensive for non-students/employees (I recently stopped working there). I've been trying to save myself a little money lately by working around the system. The girl they put in charge while my previous boss is on mat leave was a fellow co-worker and I've never really liked her. She's small, annoying and constantly likes to remind people who is in charge blah blah blah... So instead of trying to look the other way she went on a witch hunt and very publicly bitched me out in the middle of my workout.

So I told her no one likes her and that she's a bitch. I have a loud voice so I hope the whole gym heard me. It sucks that I don't have a gym to go to anymore but I've been wanting to call her a bitch for a long time! The only thing holding me back in the past was my need to lift weights.

I want to take the opportunity to say how much I appreciate this place. I really needed to workout because I have a job interview tomorrow morning and I'm anxious about it. But it helps to come here to read/discuss and vent about things.

Men do it too, but at least then I can fight fair. I've had a problem with people in positions of authority ever since I left the military. It takes a lot for a person in charge of me to gain my respect. High standards and little tolerance.

Similar stuff happening where I work as well, the bitch likes to believe that she can give me orders and I normally tell her that I am busy at that given moment, or I let her finish and just say: That's all? with no further comments I'd love to put her in her place but confrontation is what she wants and as long as I don't give her attention I own her not he opposite.

so the owner started to get complaints about her. so they had these confidential surveys about the gym and the staff. so i went off, telling her off said everything i thought about the manager. the manager read this and she matched my hand righting with the form i filled out when i first joined that gym lol the bitch kicked me out. but about a week later she got fired.

Both gyms I have worked at had female managers and I had problems with both. They were both type A personalities which was fine but I also think they were overly authoritarian. The problem is that it ends up filtering down to the staff. Then you have people only worried about rules and regulations and not about customer service and being friendly. It becomes: I'm only doing this because "X" will get upset and "X" only gets upset because of "Y".

I found a new gym today. For anyone in the Guelph area it is called Today's Fitness Club. It is family owned and has an old school bodybuilder feel to it. There is a lot of older equipment which I like and I noticed people using chalk. They have bumper plates the DB's go up to 150lbs and even a donkey calf raise machine which I havn't ever seen before. They don't do a lot of contracts, most people are month to month. $20 admin fee. Right now there is a 4 month special for just over $30/mth. I think it will be a good gym.

Well there could be only one person you're refering to. I had words with her that day also.

I worked out at the new gym today and I liked it a lot. They only have 100lb bumper plates but in general there is more than enough equipment (old and new) and I liked the atmosphere. Just the fact that it is family owned hooked me. The mom signed me up and her son took me on a tour. I will always try and support independant gyms and I tend to like them more anyways. 4 month special deal with admin fee/tax is $147. Then a year membership is more/month and there is also month to month which is again more expensive. Not sure what the rates are at Goodlife, I've only been there once. The YMCA was out of the question and the Athletic Club is way too $$$ for me.

The irony is you can go to the labour board and file a complaint, and they will probably award you the decision. The fact you were terminated on the spot in a public way while off duty is a very blatant violation of the labour law.

I hadn't been working at that gym for a couple weeks and previous to that I was only a sub because I had gotten a full time job somewhere else. Although I never did actually quit and I never really was fired.

I'm not too worried about the whole thing anymore, I found a better gym so it worked out well.
