It's all over TSN and National Post.
The Coyotes have entered Chapter 11 and it appears Balsillie is lending them money so they can continue to operate until the court decides what to do.
This is actually great news because, as far as I know, the bankruptcy judge will determine what happens to the team and not the NHL as he has to ensure that the assets are sold to the best suitor and that creditors are payed.
I think Balsillie is the only guy actually serious about buying the team and for the price he is asking it looks like he will get it.
Now all we need is a team back in the Peg.

Hate to say this but no thanks. Winnipeg already has the Manitoba Moose and it's the worst parking in that area cause it's right downtown. Second, they'd have to build yet another arena for the new NHL team which they can't because of the MTS center agreement. Third, no Jets in MTS center, to friggin small! My giggleberries get no breathing room there. Your a sardine there!
the states can keep the coyotes

I think they can still go to Hamilton. If not there why not put a team in Southwestern Ontario. Anywhere from Guelph to London would be great. They have a few airports along the way. Kitchener has been flying direct to a lot of tropical locations so they could land there.

Not that I give 100% of a **** about hockey...but from the ramblings on talk radio Kitchener/Waterloo is where Balsillie will stick the team. It's 75miles from Toronto and Buffalo thereby saving millions in fees he would have to pay to Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment if the team was within the 75mile catch basin of TO. Would be good for the team as teams that are owned to make profits for their owners will always suck, while teams owned by the rich for their hobbies or corporations to sell more beer etc will do better. The teachers in Ontario will always make $ of the Leafs but they will NEVER go anywhere. And why would the Leafs spend a $ more than they have to? Toronto's idiot fans will watch the games, buy the tickets and shell out for merchandise no matter how bad the team gets. Suckers.
In any normal world the richest team in the league will dominate (NY-Baseball, ManU-soccer, etc)

Hell RIM's stock price alone is almost $90, double what it was in late Feb.

ballsille is a ratard in the way he goes about getting a team. the NHL hates him. and there is no way bettman will allow this too happen.
its very unfortunate really. as the real retard in all this is Betman. can he not see that hockey is strong in canada? even in these economic times. unfortunately betman and the rest of the american nhl gm's will vote this down. canada will never see more then 6 teams again, unless betman is dropped by the nhl board of goveners or he dies.

Whoa...
This is a guy who in the press the other day stated that "The NHL does not abandon cities when the franchise is having trouble". Tell that to Winnipeg and Quebec.
He got his start working for the NBA, which is an asset as he has experience in pro sports, but he does not have the same passion for the game as somebody like Mario Lemiuex. Granted he is in charge of the business and needs to run the league like such, but ever notice that while he is at games he is busy chatting to the people around him and oblivious to the on ice action.
