My sister keeps buying toys for her dog who is half lab/half great dane. Problem is the toys last for 30 minutes before he chews it all up. The only one that has lasted is this rubber gong. Can anyone recommend some solid/quality dog toys worth getting? Nelson thanks you in advance!

if he likes to chew, get him those big pieces of beef femur. that big ol bone will kick his ass :) just make him eat it outside.

I am going to be shopping for a German Shepperd myself---had one when I was little, but the thieves fed it meat with broken glass in it :( He was only 5 years old.
I want one so bad...I just have to sloooooooooooooowly inbed the idea into my girls head, that it is ok to have a big dog like that :)

i have the same problem with my dog, but thats what he likes to do. he likes to rip apart the toys, so now i go to the dollar store and buy him cheap teddy bears and crap like that. the dog loves it.

i have a 130lb Bull Mastiff and 100lb Dogue de Bordeaux....both still pups......they like stuffed toys..just to carry around and squeek..but you cant beat those real bones @ the pet store to keep them busy outside (they stain carpets cause i get the smoked ones).....my dogs dont like rubber toys much to be honest.

This thread reminds me of the dog in Snatch. One of my favorite movies.

my dog is in my avi and he is only 46lbs and the toughest dog toy i can find is a kong but , he kills it in mins. I just stopped buying him toys , got to expensive. Now i have to walk him twice as much to make up for not chewing just to calm him down, lol. `

my pitt would eat through anything in minutes. kevlar whatever. the only thing that ever lasted at all were the rubber kong's, which he loves(black ones are best) that and the big ropes but be prepared to play tug-o-war all day. those two items have kept his teeth in good shape. he is 12 now and has excellent dental health.
the dino bones were a favorite too but he would consume them so fast that shards of sharp bone got eaten, not great for the insides.

Definitely the black kong's are the strongest commercial toys I have come across (get the biggest ones you can find). Put a little peanut butter inside and it will keep him occupied for hours.
The best toy for my bully-breed is a Mickey Thompson Slick. Its bias ply so it wont hurt the dogs mouth with steel belts. You can hang it from a rope on a tree or play tug-a-war with it when you feel like some cardio.

my 100lb artic wolfe x lab. uses a coat for a toy. lol we play a ton of tug a war with used coats. we also buy him those big ass bones, and that rubber gong. everything else last a couple of seconds with him.

Try Baby Teething Toys. They have to be sturdy enough that a babies teeth are not able to bite off chunks.
Good luck. Some peps so with the cloth kind..the big knotted ropes maybe.

the old surplus navy coats if you can get them last a while, also a duck canvas tarp lasts a hell of a long time.
