Wbff Vs Cbbf-know Your Rights!!
It has come to our attention that within the last few weeks the CBBF and its affiliate associations has been sending threatening letters to competitors all across Canada regarding being banned and/or suspended for competing with ?other? organizations. Know your rights! AN AMATEUR ATHLETE CANNOT BE SUSPENDED OR BANNED FOR COMPETING IN ANY OTHER ORGANIZATION OTHER THAN THE CBBF, AND ANY OF ITS AFFILIATE ORGANIZATIONS. It is within your legal rights to be able to compete within as many organizations as you wish as an amateur competitor.
If you do accept Pro Status from any organization, you will have forfeited your rights to be considered as an amateur athlete, but that is the only way that you can lose your eligibility as an amateur. Again, please know your rights; amateur athletes CANNOT be suspended or banned for competing with multiple organizations.
You can do the research for yourself. For example, in 1983 The NPC vs. The AAU; the NPC President Jim Manion took the AAU to court for this reason. The AAU stated to ban competitors who competed in NPC shows. The AAU lost the case and it was stated that ?amateur athletes cannot be banner or suspended for competing in multiple organizations.?

I attended the WBFF BC CHampionships.....here were my thoughts:
All in all it was pretty dissapointing from a bodybuilder's standpoint. If you enjoy fitness or figure it would have been pretty fun. Dillet is trying to add a new flavour to competitions by having upbeat music blasting, more light shows and an MC who interacts with the crowd (throwing out free merchandise between weight classes...etc). They had many categories: men's bodybuilding, men's model, women's figure, bikini model fitness...etc. Like usual there were tons of women but the men's bodybuilding was a joke. Each weight class had a few guys that were quite impressive...one of the light heavyweights Richard Chan was a stand out i think, he is a natural competitor apparently who won the FAME in Vancouver, however, they only had 3-4 guys per weight class and only one heavyweight and no masters class.
The one impressive thing about the contest was the amount of prize money and sponsors that Paul Dillet was able to round up. Budweiser was just one of the heavyweight names that was helping sponsor the federation. They had a small expo outside with the usual suspects in canadian supplement companies.
I took some pics of the competitors i may upload later.
On a final note, i got to meet Paul Dillet and some other organizers during intermission... Although he was stressed and super burnt out from the event he was a pretty nice guy

Paul,
You may want to tell the whole story as you have left out some important information. Please check out the following link...
cbbf.ca/info_full.asp?id=37
Since your shows offer prize money you may also want to mention that if you reward one of your athlete's cash prizes they are at risk of losing their amateur status in the CBBF and affiliates.

I think Dillet should find to way to affiliate with the IFBB and give the big money to the pro`s that they so much deserve.

Is there any drug testing for these shows? I don't mean like OPA where there is a "possibility". I mean actual piss tests at every show. I don't compete with FAME for this reason.

No testing and if any of the other shows are anything like the one they just had in Vancouver its a god damned JOKE!!! Dillet was walking around and I dont think anybody knew who he was, sadly. There were no more than 15-20 BBers...3 lightweight, 3 middles, 7 or so lightheavy and 1 heavyweight. There were more MALE FITNESS models than BBers. 5000000 fitness models, this event should just be a male and female fitness pageant not pumped as a BBing show. Waste of money, $36 for prejudging!!!
Also I'm sure they bring in their poster boys/girls to each show to win.
I wouldnt bother competing in it even if I was done with the CBBA.

The OPA has a tested and a random tested stream. Random would be London, Western ON...etc Tested would be Natural Ontarios which is slated for Sept 19 in Hamilton - IOC is onsite. That will move you to the CBBF Canadian Natural Physique Championships - this year it was held Mar 21. This is the real deal testing not some BS lie detector, physique assessment round....etc.

Let's see. Good prize money. Well organized and with good sponsors.
Well I'd say the cbbf can up piss up a rope if Paul can keep up the momentum.
It won't take long to have many entrants in a class if the the prize money actually covers travel and prep costs.

Cool, yeah I guess I was only refering to the regular stream (ie level 1, 2, 3 Nationals). The last show I did also had real drug testing. It cost more to compete but it kept away a lot of the not so natural guys. A few of the athletes have tested positive and they post the results of every urine analysis online.
Are there a lot of competitors in the Natural Ontario's? Is it fairly competitive? You can PM me if you want SS, I don't want to hijack the thread.

good point. if this is the case then the CBBF is where one will have to compete. but seeing as the majoirty of competitors are "HOBBY COMPETITORS" then i would compete with whatever organization is giving u the most bang for your hard earned dollar.
too each there own
You guys are a bunch of haters. How can you hate on someone who is trying to create opportunities for other competitors. What has the CBBF done for anyone?
Do they help there competitors get any magazine exposure??? Answer: no!
Do they help there compositors get paid contracts? Answer no!
WELL Paul Dillett and The WBFF GUARANTEE there winners paid contracts and magazine exposure. This is real opportunity unlike The CBBF who guarantee ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but an elusive IFBB Pro card. Tell me when was the last time any CANADIAN Bodybuilding has done anything in the IFBB other then Paul Dillett?? They had over 40 years to make a change and didn't and now it's a time for a change and The WBFF is that change.

Welcome to cbb.
My take in this matter is best said by wbff. Opportunity. Everyone has different goals and aspirations. WBFF is a venue for some to achieve those goals and it ties in with what we do. If one wants to become the next Mr. O, there are still options. If one wants to be a fitness model, figure champ etc or is not interested in juicing up to the gills to become the next Mr. O, then WBFF is there for that.
I am for anything that helps the bb/fitness community grow in Canada and you guys are always welcome on my site.

I was hating on the show itself as I went to see a bodybuilding show and was severely disappointed.
Your right the direction the fed is trying to go is positive and the opportunities sound great. Contracts and prize money is awesome and more incentive for competitors....now just need to get more of them, bodybuilders that is.

I haven't seen a show yet but I would like to. At the same time, if someone says something you don't like about it, it can be taken as constructive criticism. Your show is new and young, listen to the public as they can help you improve it. I welcome new startups.

First of all there ware no female BBers.
Mens:
3 LW
3 MW
7-8 LHW
1 HW
That's all the bodybuilders that were in the show. Now some of the male fitness guys were ripped up and could have done BBing, but something about a mens 3pc round starting with a "theme" round and guys coming out and shaking their ass like a chip n dale doesnt appeal to me. And these guys all thought they were the shit too like they were on Americas Next Top Model. GOod physiques but attitude to go with them, lol.
Bodybuilders in this show were the side attraction really. And if props are allowed thats cool! If your really into your routine and enjoy performing like that more power to you.

Johnny, i feel the same way man....i was attending the pre juding primarily to see the bodybuilders...i woke up early and even dropped a 100 at the casino before hand just to see maybe 15 bodybuilders total.....wish there had been more.
However, its a brand new federation ...not many people knew of the contest ...etc. im sure there will be 2x as many guys next year.
Whatd you think of some of those male fitness model dudes in the chaps ;) lol

Q. Who is eligible to compete at the WBFF World Championships in Toronto September 19,2009?
A. ALL athletes, regardless of prior competition experience or affiliation with other organizations are permitted to compete at the WBFF World Championships in Toronto as it is being classified as both a National event AND Pro Event. The WBFF Pro Divisions will debut at the World Championships, but will be separated from the open divisions. As always, this event is open to first time competitors and seasoned competitors.
Q. How many opportunities do I have to turn pro prior to the World Championships?
A. There will be one additional Pro Qualifying event at the WBFF Calgary Championships on July 4th, 2009. Applications will still be accepted by nationally ranked athletes from accredited organizations in good standing with the WBFF. Once a pool of qualified pro athletes is attained, WBFF Pro Cards will only be granted at the World Championship event and designated pro qualifying events.
Q. Is there a signficant difference between a WBFF Pro and an amateur?
A. The WBFF Pros, as with all professional athletes, will receive a distinction that is inclusive of cash prizes, industry related contract endorsements, exclusive marketing features through the WBFF and sponsors and featured placement in national and international fitness publications. In addition, WBFF Pros will have their own exclusive online presence on the WBFF website to market themselves . WBFF forms partnerships with their pro athletes to assist in promoting and supporting their fitness efforts.
Q. Will you be adding any more events in the future?
A. The WBFF will be adding Montreal, Canada to our list of events for the 2010 competition season. This will be in addition to our regional events in Vancouver, Calgary and the WBFF World Championships once again in Toronto. We do have prospects of adding the U.S. and other worldwide events in the future.
Q. When is the best time to register for any of the upcoming WBFF shows?
A. Keep in mind that due to the increasing popularity of the events, limitations may be placed on some divisions due to time constraints and as a result, may have to be capped prior to the event. It's always wise to register as soon as possible to ensure your opportunity to compete.
Q. I really want to compete with the WBFF but I don't want to lose standing with my organization.
A. Court decisions are supportive in stating that amateur athletes can not be banned from competing with any organization so long as they're not receiving monetary retribution (cash) from the organization by way of a contractual agreement. What this means in short is that you're free to compete where you want, with who you want, as often as you want and most importantly, with the organization that best suits your competetive goals.

Why? The CBBF gives cash and prizes away (in Alberta anyways). Does that make people who accept them pros now? The CBBF can't ban people for accepting prizes when they in fact give out prizes as well. This all sounds so silly.... people should be able to compete where they want.

Edit. No need for my comments. If you put some good drug testing in place or already drug test the athletes let me know. I would be interested. If you can find a decent video of a legit natural bodybuilder that would be good. It's really obvious the guys who have taken drugs in the past and the ones who havn't.

I do not know WBBF much but I think they are not my style but i wish them good luck.
I read through this post quickly and I can't remember who said something about FAME drug testing but yes they catch people from their urine tests. I saw one case on Global news last year that the girl who is now on the WBBF poster was banned for using horse steroids. Why someone would use steroids and enter into a natural show and one that is tested is beyond me.

Common sense and respecting others who are natural obviously are not within their grasp.
Cheating is cheating and it happens at levels of all sports... Looks at the olympics for example... the only difference is some people get caught, and some don't!

Edit. No need for my comments. If you put some good drug testing in place or already drug test the athletes let me know. I would be interested. If you can find a decent video of a legit natural bodybuilder that would be good. It's really obvious the guys who have taken drugs in the past and the ones who havn't.
I agree that it's obvious at the IFBB and pro level... but at the amateur level it's impossible to tell... I have had people argue with me that I was not natural, when I was 100% natural...

Yup, I agree. I'm still natural and I've been approached by people at the gym who don't bother to ask if I'm natural or not. They just ask me what I'm taking and what dosage. The reality is though that most people who look like they've taken something have. It isn't even always the bodybuilders. I would bet good money that a fair amount of the fitness models have taken AAS in the past.

WBFF Director's Rant - "Juiced up or Natural - A Moral Dilemma?"
by Daryl Gazey
WBFF Director of Operations'
First and foremost, I owe a great deal of gratitude to all those who took the time away from their oatmeal and egg whites to read my last, somewhat lengthy rant about the political side of competition. My goal is to shoot from the hip here, knowing all to well that the people in front of me may catch a bullet or two but those who stand behind me (the WBFF) may revel in my/our viewpoints. Where do I gather my material from you ask? In the past couple of decades or so, concerns from 'would-be' competitors, seasoned competitors, spectators, promotors and die hard fans of our industry have always arose and left me scratching my head. Once the splinters were delicately extracted, I would do my due diligence to find the answers sought and then 'delicately' provide what I felt was an honest answer. Now I know that when I use the word 'honesty', a few feathers will ruffle and more than a few eyebrows will perch. What the heck does this have to do with honesty? Hang fire...I'm getting to it.
With the competitive fitness season finally upon us (dam you people who have year 'round sunshine!), questions and concerns are abounding. Valid questions that would apply to not only the WBFF but every organization's policies and procedures. I've responded ad nauseum to the "How come it's so expensive?" and the ever so popular "Is it drug tested?" inquiries. Hmmm...a couple of valid zingers huh? I'm sure more than a few contest promoters have wiped the sweat from their keyboards when responding to these requests.
So....why are we gouging you and how come the lady standing next to you weighs 230 and has shredded glutes and a 3 o'clock shadow? Let's draw our proverbial gun and fire off the first shot.
If they can't nail down the use/abuse/complement of performance enhancing substances in the Olympics (yes I'm referring to the 's' word), using stringent testing protocols and a hefty budget to do so, how the heck do you think "Bob's High School Auditorium Natural Bodybuilding, Figure and Rib Fest" is going to fare? Oh yes, but they do offer a 10 minute polygraph, a urinalysis, a signed consent form and they take a chunk of money from my entry form to do so. Hello? Any 9th grader who has access to the internet can fly past ANY and ALL of these doping control methods using the right strategy and informed choices. Is a 'natural' show natural? One could only hope that the appeal of a natural show is ONLY a reflection of the moral ethics of it's participants. That is the ONLY thing that will keep a natural show truly drug-free. But, in the spirit of competition, the smell of victory is all too strong for those athletes that want to 'win at all costs. What's next for those who 'gear up' to compete naturally? Perhaps claiming a disability to garnish a gold in the Special Olympics?
It's inarguable that those who choose to compete with pharmaceutical assistance vs those who do not, poses a huge dilemma to any organization that presses for 'fairness and honesty' amongst its athletes. Does the WBFF drug test it's participants? In short..no we do not. Absurd right? Do we condone or advocate the involvement of anabolic agents or fat loss products. Well again, that doesn't matter if we do or we don't. I know (and you probably do as well) that people will ingest, inject, inhale, implant and for the most part, do what they feel is necessary to 'win at all costs'. With a team of lab coated, pharmacy gurus standing at stage right, Sylvia Brown the psychic in the audience and the FBI's team of polygraphy examiners in their midsts, does any show even have a shred of chance in advocating their natural status.
Are we hippocrits? Some may think so but I like to see us as realists. It serves little purpose to run a drug tested show when all of us who are 'in the know' realize this to be an ineffective and moot tactic. So whether you opt for good ole' fashioned creatine or some esoteric doctrine of sports medicine, chance are we're not necessarily going to know. I'll humble myself in stating that it's safe to assume that most high caliber athletes are using 'something' to better themselves and really it boils down to a matter of personal choice and that has nothing to do with whether a show is 'drug free' or not... Competition, as the name implies, is just that. Who is better than whom. Personally, I'd rather stand on stage knowing that the odds are fairly high that the guys standing next to me are anabolically-equipped rather than enter a so-called natural show where the chips are going to fall where they may.
In summation, it took 0.15 seconds for google to return 138,000 responses on 'how to pass a steroid test'
I'll let you be the judge the next time you're paying for a drug testing fee.
Join me on my next rant from the fitness soap box when I delve into "I look great, so now what??"
Good luck in competition and in being the best you possible.
In good health,
Daryl Gazey

^^^ Bullshit. I'd love to see an athlete on AAS get drug tested and pass when it's being analyzed by a lab also used by the IOC. At least with testing people can't juice leading up to the show quite the same. There are ways of drug testing w/o it costing a lot and making it as fair as possible to the competitors. The WBFF just chooses not to and rewards juiced up athletes under the guise of a natural tested event.
So as a legit natural ahlete I would never waste my time with the WBFF. So whoever you're trying to influence or recruit, it sure isn't natural athletes. At least not ones who have a clue.

Yeah, it makes sense. But when I see guys bigger than people on this site who have extensive histories with AAS my first inclination isn't Myostatin Deficiency. The most simple explaination is usually the right one. There are lots of legit natural bodybuilders bigger than me. The only guys who have ever mentioned steroids to me are the ones who are taking them.
The fact is they don't test. If you saw the same guys in a show that didn't advertise itself as natural you wouldn't think for a second they were clean. They look just like untested stream CBBF guys. Nothing like the guys who compete in tested shows (some do, but they don't do well). I am absolutely biased towards them because they advertise themselves as a natural federation when they may as well be the IFBB.
I've seen more people on steroids that look like they've never touched them then people who are natty that look like they arn't.

They may appear like a federation that is natural ( I thought that myself because they have theat fame like feel to them) but they specifically say they don`t test their athletes. How is this not being fair? I may be wrong here, but dosen`t the IFBB say they test their athletes? Now that is bullshit! Yeah, I`m 280lbs ripped and I`m natural...

WBFF is relatively new. I say give em a chance and let's see what they can accomplish. Paul Dilliet was one of us in the past so I'm ready to support him and give him a chance to come up with a good product. As anything, it'll evolve over the years and he will need to tweak it here and there.

I think the wbbf offers a wonderful alternative to bodybuilders in Canada. The role of the amateur sports organization in bodybuilding hasn't done much for it as either a sport or entertainment. The professional organization has pretty much killed female bodybuilding.
While I prefer bodybuilding to fitness I believe that figure/fitness has a lot more appeal to the audience.
I certainly think there is a perfectly good place for amateur sport within the education systems. Bodybuilding/Powerlifting has completely failed in Canada as amateur sport
I have no idea if the WBBF will be successful but at the end of the day it has the potential to offer a way for elite canadian bodybuilders to support themselves in their pursuit. I personally see this as a good thing without regard to the inevitable and useless political sports bickering

Who Can compete at the WBFF World Championship?
What this means in short is that you're free to compete where you want, with who you want, as often as you want and most importantly, with the organization that best suits your competitive goals.

The "W" in 'WBFF'...and everything in Between
by Daryl Gazey
WBFF Director of Operations
www.wbffshows.com
Canadian bodybuilding and fitness....fact or fallacy?
The bitter and hard reality of fitness in Canada is in desperate need for the winds of change to breathe new light into a struggling industry. It is a hard pill to swallow when we realize that athletes who strive to be the 'best of the best' climb through the fitness ranks of their organizations only to be forced to leave Canada to seek the greener pastures of competition. This strongly suggests that something must be done to keep these elite close to home and provide opportunities that rival or surpass those 'pastures' commonly found in the United States or overseas. Let's face it, in many respects we've become the 'red-headed step son' to the United States in the light of the entertainment and sports arenas; fitness and bodybuilding being no exception.
Until recently, those athletes who were able to carve a niche for themselves, often found themselves scratching their heads when opportunity failed to present itself and what was once hoped to be a dream of making a solid name, fizzled in the making.
At present, the WBFF has exclusively ran their events in Canada and in their first year, predominantly focused on the appeal of Canadian athletes. The result? An entertaining and elaborate production that offered many athletes exclusive opportunities to satisfy their competition goals; be it financially, through media exposure or sponsorship opportunities with some of the top names in our business.
Much to our surprise, this trend of having to leave Canada to 'make it' in our beloved sport quickly pounced on the teeter totter and resulted in a widespread appeal of athletes from not only the United States but a variety of countries.
Athletes realized the efforts of our original goal; the "W" in World Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation wasn't limited to Canada and despite us not having events outside our home turf, we were still able to have participants boarding planes and destined for Toronto to compete in the World Championships.
Before we go patting ourselves on the back and 'high fiveing' the WBFF Team for this accomplishment, we have to reel in the reasoning on how this took place. Every one of you who posted pictures, praised our efforts, were thankful for their opportunities and voiced their opinions stretched the boundaries of our marketing efforts beyond our wildest imagination. This high five belongs to you and has fueled every member of the WBFF Team to continue to strive at exposing as many opportunities as we can muster. Our success will ONLY be measured by the success of our membership; this has nothing to do with lining our pockets (hopefully at some point it will :P) In the meantime we will stand proudly behind those we've been able to assist in reaching their own individual goals and continue to 'Dare to Dream'.
To date, registration for the 2009 World Championships will be garnished by athletes from Canada, the United States, Venezuela, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Australia, Turkey, South Africa and the Philippines; while continuing to hurdle forward.
The winds of change are blowing into Canada and the 'red headed step son' has quickly grown into a well-muscled fitness machine worthy of world renown as more and more athletes see the value of joining this freight train of fitness opportunity.
Next stop....September 19th, 2009. I'd implore on you to consider it...

Just wanted to take a few secs to thank all those who contributed posting on the WBFF (both for and against). Whether positive or negative, this serves as a foundation to provide as much possible return to the athlete seeking to further themselves.
Yes, we fully realize that the WBFF is not going to appeal to ALL those it passes; in my humble opinion there has yet to be an organization in existence that accomplishes this.
Our effort is to answer a call that we feel has gone unanswered. As we're well aware, and without question, the IFBB has fostered the best bodybuilders of all time...hands down. Our goal isn't to knock down the Olympia but let's face the facts, VERY few outstanding bodybuilders will ever step foot on the Olympia stage. If we were to break this down into percentages of Canadians that make it to the Olympia vs. how many of those top Canadians are compensated accordingly (either financially or through media), again, I think it's unarguable that tens of thousands go forth but few are chosen. It is these people that we are focused on. The truly exceptional that still want to compete and that are very well deserving of similar recognition that until previously, we have only given to a select few individuals.
I find it rather unsettling to know that the best of the best that Canada produces no longer has an outlet once they turn pro except to leave Canada and compete elsewhere. The fact that this opportunity exists within our own home country is something that is of advantage not disadvantage. But again, the WBFF brand is not for everyone. If you truly have the goods to make it to the O. I would be the first person to encourage you to follow that dream. If you're like most of the rest of us who realize our potential may not take us that far, you might wish to consider some other options as well.
Sincerely,
Daryl Gazey

The fact that this opportunity exists within our own home country is something that is of advantage not disadvantage. But again, the WBFF brand is not for everyone. If you truly have the goods to make it to the O. I would be the first person to encourage you to follow that dream. If you're like most of the rest of us who realize our potential may not take us that far, you might wish to consider some other options as well.
Sincerely,
Daryl Gazey

Daryl...
I appreciate your post. I agree that there is alot of people who cannot make "pro" in CBBF and that by the numbers of contestants registered for your events, I can see there is a demand for your federation.
My BIGGEST personal beef with the WBFF is the fact that there is NO womens bodybuilding! Women Bodybuilders are sexy! Women bodybuilders are leaders in the industry! Without womens bodybuilding, there would not be any "fitness models" or "figures girls". They paved the road to make it ok for chicks to hit the gym for something more than riding a bike for 20 minutes and picking up a 10 pound weight! They face predjudice. They are taunted when they go to the beach. They are called Manly and freaks (I know this because I live with one!) Acceptance of the dedication these women make to thier sport can only come with exposure! When organisations can register over 100 women to stand on stage and look confident in a bikini but forget to include the women who paved the way... they are really forgetting to thank the women who fought for their right to hit the gym with the big boys.
In truth, my look fits WBFF criteria far more than CBBF criteria. I've been working out 10 months. The girls who have been working out for YEARS are pretty much excluded from your shows! If you REALLY want to provide an alternative for our canadian athletes to compete at a higher level... I implore you to consider including womens bodybuilding in your shows!

Geee, why do you think this is? Could it be that more often than not women bodybuilders look and sound a bit like men? Not talking muscles here...
If I am a fat out of shape slob I may be hurt to hear someone call me a fat slob but the truth hurts.

these women have to push so much harder than the men bodybuilders for acceptance... and when they DO make pro, the opportunities to make a living off of what they do is so small compared to thier male counterparts, or even less when you realise most suppliment companies hire skinny little sex kittens to promote muscle gaining suppliments to women.
Exposure creates acceptance.

Thanks for the kind words and I feel we are definitely heading in the right direction. There's been a shit storm brewing in Ontario and frankly, it's causing many competitors to look at what Bartlett refers to as the 'rival' organizations. I sincerely hope for the good of the sport (yes, this includes all federations) that they're able to air their differences in a respectful manner. All this industry needs is to remain where it's been relegated to; a niche group of hardcore individuals such as ourselves.....mainstream market appeal? zip unfortunately....this MUST change.
First and foremost, I am a bodybuilding fan. Always have been, for the past 25 years. I support ALL bodybuilding endeavors, regardless of whom, where and when.
As far as bodybuilding goes....both Paul Dillett and myself will be the first to acknowledge that this is where we are presently weak (albeit growing). I do also enjoy female bodybuilding. Always have. I remember back in the day when the Ms. O was a sold out theater that stood alone and females were awarded phenomenal prizes and opportunities. The bitter sad truth is that this has shifted. Female bodybuilding in the pro ranks is often now just an adjunct to something else (expos, etc.) and sponsors and magazines are reluctant to feature the women.
I agree that that doesn't eliminate those ladies who are still focused on lean and mean.
Female bodybuilding is something that we will entertain. Having said that, we must focus on increasing the popularity of the male divisions.
This will be accomplished by the following:
* Easier stages to earn WBFF Pro affiliation (through existing IFBB pros or other accredited organizations)
* Abundant prize money for WBFF Pros (currently $34,500 for 2009 plus an additional $65k in endorsement and supplement contracts)
* guaranteed placement in fitness magazines (let's face it, most of us won't be on the cover of Flex Mag anytime soon)
* television production event staging - produces incredible stage photos that allow you to self promote yourself
* increase of worldwide market appeal - presently 19 countries registered for 2009. This indicates a shift in the right direction. Events in Canada being traveled to by competitors globally. This has rarely happened in the past.
This shift will not happen overnight. Not everyone agrees with our focus; painful but true. You have my word that we are doing what's best for a sport we all love and share.
I proudly encourage all athletes to never lose focus of what they have their ambition set on...whether that be IFBB, NPC or any other organization. The only thing we (the WBFF) can hope for is consider going where you'll receive the most personal satisfaction (however you may measure that).
Thanks again and I look forward to meeting some of you in Toronto on Sept. 19th...
Good luck to all Canadian National Competitors in the upcoming weeks!:a+

Gonna have to agree with Nate on this one. There is just 0 maketability for female bodybuilders. Put it this way, for men there is hardly any, what chance do you think the women have? Sure there may be a wild card here and there, but that`s it. It`s just nasty. Do it for yourself because you enjoy it.

Ya your both right sad to see female bb going down.As for Wbff the money look great for the people that will win looks better than the Ifbb,or any other Federations.Hope to see lots of shows here in ontairo, but up in northern ontairo as well.

The shift has definately changed in the past 20 years in both womens and mens bodybduilding... going to the xtreme yes..... but that;s because the JUDGES of these competitions have CHOSEN these looks to win....
Look at Corey Everson and Arnold... ( very marketable). the symmetry of yesteryear is not the same as it is now...
The JUDGES can reward this look again by standing up and rewarding the yesteryear look versus the manly and freaky look ( yes both men and women of todays bodydbuilding are more about size and freakiness versus symmetry etc ) This organization can stand up and change things..
Think about it... this would be a statement and open up different doors
:popc:popc:greet:greet:
PS- I do agree some of the figure girls could turn either way.. bodybuilding/figure... but to be honest the quarter turn in a line up just doesn't cut it.... there is no individuality .. in a bodybuilding type comp.... you can show a piece of yourself....this is just my opinion .. no disrespect meant to anyone
All the controversy as to which look wins in figure ( harder vs softer ) is because organizations are trying to fit everything into one package.. It's not working.. the competitor does not know which look will win each year as it keeps changing.. It is unfair to the competitor... Let figure be the softer look and bb can go the harder look....
