Hey Boyos,

Any of you know anything about Marine Stereos? The head unit will be covered so it doesn't have to be water proof.

Any recommendations on brands?

22ft Boat so the stereo doesn' have to be HUGE. Also, I don't want it to be a serious drain on the batteries. I have two, but still...not being able to start the boat when i'm ready to come in would suck ass.

What V does a boat normally run off of? I'm assuming it's 12V.

I'm pretty sure a regular car stereo would work fine. Along with a couple car speakers... depending on where you want to mount them, you could get 6.5 or 6x9... oh, and a little sub would be nice too!

I'm thinkin, a CD/MP3 (w/aux in) with a small 500w amp, a couple 6x9's and a small 8" sub in an enclosure, tucked away somewhere to protect it from moisture... get all that, and you'd be rockin!

Could probably do the whole system for ~$500.

Most boats are 12V negative ground. The hardest part is getting the system grounded. Marine systems have a grounding plane and if you look around in your boat, it may be marked behind the cutout blank for the stereo. You can usually find out if you search the manufacturers web site for your make and model.
