Can anyone recommend any gyms in Calgary SW? I've used the south YMCA in the past, but would like some other suggestions near there?

(sorry alladinsane, your gym looks awesome but it is too far away for me)

Hmm... I checked out the website, but That is still too far out of my way. Thanks for the input though C. I guess I may end out back at the Y again, unless there is something closer (near Heritage train station) that is good. Googling has yielded no results in a close radius but world health club on southport road. Anyone tried WHC?

Isn't there a Golds or something at Macleod and 133 ave? There is the southland leisure centre at Southland and 19th.My fave is the Talisman Centre, the old Lindsay Park with the olympic pool.Right off macleod and 25th ave.

Gagne fitness is pretty far south and they have a GHR.... so if you can't make the trip to AlladdinSane's place, I would go there.

Yes, yes it is, but even though they play gay music it's not too shabby.

I've been there and believe me...it may look small from the outside, but it's pretty big inside. Derrick Brown, (my trainer for the '09 Southerns) works out of there, and is very knowledgable. I'd train there if I lived closer.

I liked the World Health Club by the superstore when I lived in Calgary for a couple years. I Liked that is was open 24 hours during the week. There was a place where you could get a shake made and it wasn't super busy. That was a about 4 or 5 years ago though.

It wasn't the best for bar freeweight stations, but there were lots of dumbell benches! A few guys with good training routines and a bunch of clueless people too haha.

I had to go there cause that is where my membership would transfer to from when I was in highschool.

My first and only gym so far has been Talisman. I live in the SW too but it's worth the drive in my opinion. The place is clean and everyone is friendly.

I go to BJ's Downtown... I don't think there is more than 15 member there, and there is everything you need.
