Hey guys, I could use a little help. Three weeks ago I finished 8wks of tbol. Was going much heavier than I’m used to, and pushed as hard as I could. By the end elbows, shoulders, knees were all finished. Took one week off entirely, then went back at it with lighter weights, moved up to the 8-12 rep range, and stayed 1 rep away from failure. All the joints feel good again.

Then last night it felt like something ripped near my left elbow. Don’t know how to describe it really. This sounds stupid, but for about a week there’s been a spot on the inner elbow where it occasionally felt like the skin was tight, like there was glue stuck on the skin surface or something. Was doing arms and shoulders, did weighted dips and chins, incline DB curls, overhead cable extensions, hammer curls, and rope pulldowns with supination at the bottom, and bent over lateral raises and all went well.

Then started a set of lateral raises (with thumbs up, about 30° forward in front of the body) and first rep there was a burning in that spot, and what felt like the skin tearing away underneath. I’ve never torn a muscle, so I don’t know what that feels like, but I don’t think that it would feel like this. If you’ve ever skinned an animal and pulled back on the hide tearing it away, that’s like what the sensation was. I did a few more reps to try to figure out what the hell was happening ( I know, dumb) and the burning stayed there. I waited a few minutes and the burning subsided a little. I did 2 more sets with less weight, and it wasn’t as bad, but still burned.

This is 18 hours later, and there’s still a mild burning there. There’s no swelling, bruising, or real pain. I have no idea what this is, would sure appreciate some input if anyone has ever had something similar.

why are you asking us? If you felt compelled to seek our guidance (dumb idea) then you should feel compelled to see medical help to diagnose and treat the problem.

take time off, wait it out, it sucks but we all do it at one point

or go see a RMT, if they're experienced they'll be able to tell whats wrong by how your arm feels

I intend to go the doctor when I can, but this is rural MB, unless you cut your arm off with a chainsaw or get run over by a tractor, your waiting weeks to see someone. When you finally do, they're usually clueless, can't speak English, and are less help than a vet. I was just hoping that someone might have an idea what it could be, if its nothing great, but I don't want to fak something up. Sorry to waste your time.

nah bro. I just see ppl come on boards all the time saying I did this and I did that. It hurts... , etc. We're here to help obviously but as far as I am aware there is no one here qualified to dole out medical advice. IF it's a concern then go get it looked at because most here will suggest ot take time off and rest it but there COULD be something more going on.

I've been guilty of doing the same thing. We're not pro BB'ers to the luxury of downtime at the gym for us is a reality.

Thanks Legalize. I know I'm going to have to rest it, and good idea with the massage therapist, I'll look into that first.

Nate, like I said, just looking for other's experiences, not a definite medical diagnosis. If something similar has happened to someone and they can tell me "Ya, doctor figured out it was (fill in the blank)" then at least I've got a starting point to work from.

Could be a small tear. I had a calf strain before and it felt like a burning sensation. Rest and ice to keep the swelling down.
