I took 2 weeks off to let my joints recover and to get my leptin levels back up to help get over a dieting plateau. I'm itching to get back in the gym and start dieting again, got dental work scheduled for tomorrow though and have no idea how long I'm gonna be out of commission for though...

I suppose Rome wasn't built in a day

May 2nd heading to Punta Cana for a week my buddies wedding (i am the best man) I am going to eat and drink my face off and when I get back after I got it out my system i'll hit the gym and clean up my diet. A little off time is great. My joints are little sore right now too

Oh ya guys I had to take a week off (2 weeks ago) due to a mild injury in the shoulder, but all is good now and I'm slowly getting back into my routine.

A week or 2 off once every 3-4 months will only do the body good, but a lot of people are afraid to take the time off because they feel they loose some of their size and strength they worked so hard for.

2 weeks is alright like rubarb said every 3-4 months. I usually take a week off every 2 months or so. What worked very good for me is after the one week break, I`d take the first week easy. Then the second week keeping everything a rep short of failure. Then the third week, it`s all out. The fourth week is focusing of moving a weight that is about 40% of my rep max or so and doing it 20 times as fast as I can. This is sometimes called a back off week. Then the next 3 weeks are all out. Then take a week off and repeat. Always trying to be a little stronger each cycle.

I`m starting my third week back from a 4 week break and that has made shit difficult in the gym. If possible, I`d not go over the 2 week mark.

i find after the 3-4 month mark the break is as necessary for your mind as it is for your body, counting calories and macronutrients on the daily is exhausting, and the gym eats up a good part of my week and i like to spend some time just doing other things once in a while

on the plus im recovering way faster then expected from my trip to the oral surgeon this morning, i should be good to get back in the gym this monday!!

a part of this may be that after the 2 week mark you start to lose the favorable adaptations to exercise that your muscles develop from training, on the positive side they tend to come back pretty quick
