It's been a while since I've kept a training journal online... The reason I say that I am getting back to my roots is that when I started out my goals were all bodybuilding related. In my first year of university I really started focusing on powerlifting. After a major back injury (non-powerlifting related) I've been training like a bodybuilder again.

In the past 3.5 months I've dropped about 20-25lbs and I've gotten close to where I was before my injury. My best competition lifts were a 572lb squat, 374lb bench and a 588lb deadlift all in single ply gear.

To be honest I'm not really sure what my goals are right now. I've been crazy busy with work the last few months and it doesn't look like it'll be slowing down anytime soon. I don't know if I'll do another powerlifting meet anytime in the near future. I'm just not sure if my heart is in to it right now.

Anyway, if you've made it this far... Here's what I did today for a workout. I'm out of town for work right now and I found a gym and went for a quick workout. I'm heading home tomorrow and will be hitting some bench press work on Saturday.

Started with some stretching and a set of 10 good mornings with 135lbs to warm up.

Squats:
135lbs x 10
135lbs x 5 -- pausing at the bottom to stretch it out
185lbs x 8
225lbs x 5
275lbs x 5
2 x (315lbs x 5)

All squats with no belt, no wraps, no knee sleeves, RAW haha. Lower back was tight as **** after this. Pretty sad considering I've done almost 4x that many reps with 315lbs (although that was in a belt).

Barbell Lunges:
2 x (16 x 135lbs)

Bent Over DB Rows:
60lbs x 15 each arm
2 x (100lbs x 10) each arm

DB Curls:
35lbs x 10 each arm
40lbs x 10 each arm

Called it a day... I was exhausted and it was HOT as hell in the gym I was at.

More to come Saturday!

Good work... Glad to hear you're back at it after whatever injury you might've incurred... Some decent numbers up there... ya, bbing is definately a lot less about ego when lifting than powerlifting... I'm sure that'll take some time gettin' used to still (the lighter weights)... good luck and keep it up...

Been crazy busy since I got back from Quebec. I didn't get to the gym this weekend. Trained this evening and had a pretty decent bench workout.

Flat Bench:
135lbs x ~10 for 3 sets
185lbs x 8
225lbs x 5
3 x (245lbs x 5) -- pretty easy

Lying DB Tricep Extensions:
3 x (15 x 30's) -- these hurt my elbows if I go much heavier with strict form.

About 6 sets of rotator cuff work.

Neutral Grip Pullups:
3 x (8 x bodyweight)

Seated DB Shoulder Press:
2 x (10 x 50's) -- very light, have not done these in a while

I still don't have a real plan for training. Just getting in to the gym and going through the motions more than anything right now. In the next few weeks I'll get things back on track as my life settles down a little.

very inspiring that u didn't let ur injury get the better of you and that despite all ur adversity's with ur injury and busy work schedule u r still making the time to fit this into ur lifestyle-that is true dedication.....makes me check myself hearing about ur story and progress-there are no excuses!! Every time I try to make one I will think of ur busier lifestyle and that u are making the time and effort...so that is crap if I can't or don't....thanks for the inspiration!! (-: Hopes for continued success!!
