Similar products have been around since the early 90s. I used to get it from Automotive stores or Canadian Tire. Actually, the shit works really well. Gets rock hard and the bond is quite strong, though I've only ever used it for temporary fixes, so I don't know how long the strength/bond lasts.

do you recall of the top of your head what product that was at Canadian Tire?

I don't remember the name, it's been a while since I've used it. You can find it in the automotive area where they have specialty glues and epoxies.

they did a consumer report on this stuff on CFTO and it turned out to be ok, but nowhere near what they claimed. there are better adhesives out there.

I don't know about Mighty Putty, but the stuff I used worked really well. I've even put it on small cracks or holes in exhaust manifolds and the shit sealed the leak and stayed put until a proper fix.

liquid steel, or JB weld, is what you are thinking about more then likely

This product was a stick of putty, black layer on the outside with a grey core. You break a piece off, knead it together, and it fully cures in about 20 minutes. It was not liquid steel or JB Weld.

Why not. Careful though, it gets pretty hot while it's curing.

I hate the guy's voice... always yelling in his commercials like we're all deaf or something.... though I imagine the people who actually order his shit are up there in age and are in fact hard of hearing.... present company excluded of course....

Its A 2 part epoxy in a non liquid form. You kneed the putty and it drys hard. They make it for concrete or steel repairs. Use it at work all the time. Any auto parts store sells it for way cheaper than on TV.
