Great stuff in this thread!!

I started my journey at the age of 18--was 120lbs long distance runner, third base baseball, and part of the soccer team.
At the age of 18 I discovered Dorian Yates, Franco, Zane, Lee.....now 33.

15 years ago, 3 shows under my belt (one other one coming up this year).
I have maxed out at 247lbs 14%
I have been OVER the 220mark for the last 3 years, and over 200 for 4 years.

Serious about the life style for the last 5 years and LOVING every single minute of it.

The weights have been a part of who I am since I was 16. I'm 43 now. That's 27 years. I've been an active member of gyms in Canada, The Czech Republic, England, and now Japan. I may never compete in a show, but I hope I can keep lifting for the rest of my life.

5 years straight and serious. Probably never missed a gym day unless I was deadly ill or really injured. When I started, I was a disgrace to the mirrow. The day I started training, I collapsed after 4 pushups and was sore in various body parts next day ( abs, legs, chest etc.)... Trained four of those naturally. Wish I had hired a personal trainer when I started since I trained wrong for probably two years ( overtraining and eating wrong..)

Don't feel bad about the first couple of years of your training regime...hey I cycled backwards the first few years myself. I managed to make great gains, but can't imagine where I would be now a days, had I known a quarter of what I know now.
Hiring a trainer is not the ticket, YOUR determination to want to change is where the money is at my friend.

Good for you for toughing it out, and for learning from your mistakes.

Keep going!!

Its been a year and 5 months since the first time I steped into the gym. Its weird but I've trained like a bodybuilder the whole time, the weights I used have changed alot but overall i've always approached everything like a bodybuilder.

Been bodybuilding since I was 16 as I learned from my buddies dad who wrestled for Calgary Stampede. Took a few breaks here and there like when my wife and I were planning our wedding. I am 35 years old now. I am also a trainer. Best job in the world!!!

In 1966 I saw a commercial about people getting fit doing pushups.I could only do a few,but in a week I could do 20.In a month I could beat everybody in class arm wrestling, and I was hooked!Made a chest expander out of old springs from a bed or couch at 10.Weights from a scrap metal yard.Iron puck at 12,a terror.Gymnastics at 13.Bullworker at 16,worked great.Got more seious at 22.Been on and off a lot, never for more than 6 months, don't believe I'll ever quit.
