well i went to the golds to end my membership and they want me to write a letter why i want to stop, and to send them 208 dollars, then i have to mail it to a totally different golds gym. I guess its kinda my fault for not reading the contract. But i dont understand why i have to write a letter why i want to quit, and i have to send 208 bucks to a different golds gym. Anyone know of any tricks to get out of the money thing?? my payments are coming off my Visa cant i just cancelle them of my visa?? I was going to say that i have been laid off for a month?

thanks I have learned contracts are gay

For the credit charges call your card company and tell them you are longer authorizing charges from Gold's. If that fails cancel the card and get a different one. When canceling make sure to tell them you are not authorizing payments from that date forward. If any charges are authorized by them it will become their responsibility to pay them. You can also tell them you are recording the call for legal reasons.

As for the letter, I would tell them to bite me. All they should require is notice that you are canceling. No explanation is required.

You can but you'll likely end up with a negative credit report. Which province you in Bro? Each province has different regulations that mandate what gyms can and cannot do under various statutes. Your province will have some sort of consumer protection agency that you can call to find out if the money-grab is legit. The letter thing is just f'in stupid and designed to provide a hurdle so you won't bother canceling. You do not have to provide reasons, only notice.

if you could just cancel the payments off the card, that seems to easy.
im 99 percent sure there would be something in the contract preventing this.

chances are if you cancel payments golds could just legally somehow get you to backpay all the missed payments until the contract is over, however many payments would be left.

you can find a friend that wants to go there and transfer the contract over to their name free of charge

Tell them a member was sexually harassing you in the change room, and that his name is Holisex.
