Apparently some newspapers reported some cdn labs were shut down on monday...just wondering if admin or anyone else has insight on this? Perhaps some can get ahold of reps, forward info to admin, just so we could know which lab(s) went down?

"Authorities said the drugs were produced in basements of homes, garages, bathrooms, and medical laboratories, and there were thousands of clients. Also closed in the crackdown were homegrown labs from Canada."
PT SPORTSTICKER

56 labs in the whole operation[RAW DEAL] but just 26 in the latest four day raid. My guess is they are grouping the Ill bust and another bust in NB earlier in the year with the latest set.

They act like this is a major problem in our society.....I don't get it they should be focusing on the real problems in our society. I guess these busts get all the headlines and they usually don't have to worry about the juice dealer shooting them when they come to arrest them. A good bro in the US who was arrestted a couple weeks ago ended up committing suicide over it. It is a sad, sad thing that LE cant go after the real problems........

I was curious as to what involvement the RCMP had if not for arresting cdn labs...but a friend pointed out that hush was in BC, and so it may have been with gathering hush records for the US LE.

I 100% recommend www.ironkey.com

You plug the stick in the USB slot on ANY computer, and leaves ZERO footprints, no trails. I know the owner and coming out with an updated version in a week or so, HIGHLY recommend, nothing comes close. Also keep eyes open for www.secretpc.com in the near future ;)

yes sir, hush handed over records.

Images A federal appeals court on Monday issued a landmark decision (.pdf) that holds that e-mail has similar constitutional privacy protections as telephone communications, meaning that federal investigators who search and seize emails without obtaining probable cause warrants will now have to do so.

"This decision is of inestimable importance in a world where most of us have webmail accounts," said Kevin Bankston, a staff attorney for the Electronic Frontier Foundation

that is grounds of an illegal search and seizure

I could be wrong, but they did busts all over the world, thailand etc on the same day. You would think everything which culminated under op raw deal, would have transpired with raids/arrests at the same time. I can't them going completely public with the whole thing when arrests were still to come. At least let's hope that is the case for our cdn brother. Ill be saying a prayer for all of them. And avec very interesting post above about email.

So your saying all the emails they collected from hush, they won't be able to use in their cases?

7 Scape O'Tech

that'd be great, i imagine that'd be the majority of the case against alot of them.

If Hush voluntarily handed over teh emails, then they would open themselves to lawsuit for invasion of privacy and civil rights violations. A smart person with a good lawyer could make a bit of $$.

if they have probable cause then they can do whatever..and also in the US they also have a fall back called "good faith clause" which even if it was illegal the end result was the person was breaking the law then the warrant still sticks..they acted upon good faith...This was right from an associate at Ricks office

Don't ascribe US law to Canadian. While you are correct that reasonable and probable grounds will allow them to procure a warrant on the basis of evidence supported by USA agents (and this is most probably what ocurred) you are incorrect in assuming an "ends justify the means" doctrine exists in Canada. Any illegally obtained evidence cannot hold up in a court of criminal jurisdiction and any illegal search/seizure cannot be justified under the charter as a reasonable limit due to the ramifications it can cause among society.

One Important thing to add to what I wrote above, Real evidence may still be admissible in court as it existed prior to the charter violation. So in regards to hushmail being searched illegally that evidence is still admissible as the evidence existed irrespective of the charter violation. Thus its use does not automatically render a trial unfair. However, it still remains a question of law as to whether or not evidence is still admissible. Generally though, police obtain warrants to make the crown's job easier.
