I wasn't going to post, but its been bothering me all day...had a intense front squat workout yesterday and tried the new gym at work for the first time. There was four frigging people in there and the gym coordinator comes over to me and tells me to put my shoes on! I was on the 7th set of squats and had no energy to argue but WTF what is the hazard? Some people piss me off...serves me right for going to a pussy gym, its just convenient when I'm rushed.

There I vented. :)

lots of these types of gyms require you to wear shoes, stick to a gym that is used to bodybuilders.

Yeah man I've had that before. It's just a liability thing for them just incase a 45 falls and breaks all your motherfackin toes lol. And I thought the gym I went to was hardcore. They don't even allow chalk :(

pshh liability my ass... like the nike mesh is gonna protect your toe in any way

next time wear steel toed boots and see what happens

...it also depends on whose working, if you look scary enough they wont bother you :lick

I go barefoot around my gym all the time, plus I'll take the shirt off too if I get too hot.

Plus it's a quick trip down the stairs into my basement. :)

Did crack a 75hex on the big toe once while I was standing on it (on the rack) installing a cable in the ceiling. oh man did that EVER hurt. lost the nail too. yeowwwww

exactly. i had a 25lb plate fall of the top rack cuz the asswipe who put the 45lb just below it overlapped it and i missed it... fell on my foot and fractured it.

i took my shoe off and my whole right side of my foot immediately swelled up went purple and curled up. set me back a month, hurt to ****in much to walk on it.

shoes don't do shit to protect.

Pretty sure that's it. Maybe it's a hygiene thing too, or a smell thing? Yes, yes, I know all about how gyms are nasty for both anyways but maybe it's just a convenient way for them to say they're "cutting down on the problem"?
