View Full Version : Bomb threat at Firebag, North of Ft. McMurray, AB

I just got a call from my dad from his cell. He works for Suncor at a place called firebag, which is about 2 hours north of Ft. McMurray.

Someone planted a bomb there today, it was found by a worker, and now RCMP are there checking everyone's rooms.

The bizarre news continues....

haven't heard anything yet. My dad gets off work at 9Pm mountain time, so I will call him tonight and see if he has anymore details. He did mention that they had dogs checking rooms and other places looking for who might have planted the bomb.

Well here is an update: A plastic explosive device was found in the rafters in one of the maintenance shops, it was being constructed as a bomb, but it was not fully assembled. It was missing the compound, but apparently it had wires, a timer etc. So that is why the rcmp was searching the camp including all the rooms with dogs. They think because of where it was found and because of the existing security measures it had to be an insider.

that is scary shit. around where I live we have had pipeline bombings.
someone, or group of someones has a beef with Encana and set off a couple of bombs in Oct 08. 2 on pipelines, and one on a wellhead.
scary part is it is in a populated area, and they are sour gas lines.

One of those happend very close to my dads farm, I spoke to him on the phone about it and he was pretty freaked out for sure!
