Looks like I have an umbilical hernia. The doc says it is minor and wants to see if it gets worse. I have pretty much eliminated ab exercises as those seem to make it worse. So it looks like I will have to have it corrected at some point.....another setback.

For those that have had one how did you decide it was finally time to get it fixed?

I had one about the size of a dime. I was in Friday for the operation and back in the gym on Monday.

I have a big one operated on, it was lower then yours though.. now im fine and can lift heavy no problem. I think you should get surgery on it..

Get it done. I couldn't do anything that would stretch my abs but that was easy to work around. All my DB Presses I just did with my legs up...etc.

Looks like the hernia is getting worse and I will need to get surgery. Any exercises anyone can suggest that will not aggravate it too much until I go under the knife? Right now any heavy lifts like squats or dead pop it out the size of a cherry tomato.

do these things resemble HORRIBLE cramping in the stomach when doing ab exercises?

I do not have cramping, just a bubble that is getting bigger.

I just got back from the doctors. First he said it did not need to get done. I insisted and then he tells me it would be months. Again I tell him that lifting is my main form of exercise and I do not want to stop for months. In the end he is getting the referral letter off to Shouldice today. Hopefully I can get in quickly.

Hernias suck!! I've had my fair share 4 to be exact (in the groin area) and now just pulled an Umbilical as well last wk, goin in tomorrow to have it assessed....bullshit!
